Marketing fluff: it's not the most versatile weapons system.  My MGI QCB AR can quick change OEM barrels and calibers without needing a separate piston thingy installed on each barrel.

Did they say if it was the full auto version or the semi-auto version?  I'm glad to see it's being launched but I fear they will be several months (or at least a year) before the semi-autos get introduced.

It's sad, the sheer amount of bullshit and hype that has surrounded this release has made me want this gun ( a gun I wanted like a crack fiend wants crack) a lot less than I did before.

I think the majority of the problem is that the internet has some incredibly unrealistic expectations for what it takes to go from a functional prototype to a mass-produced firearm.

EXTREME

ULTIMATE

Just need to throw tactical in there a couple times.

Cool looking gun.  Glad for the folks that have been waiting forever to pick this thing up.  Can't wait for the range reports

Well, 3 years after the prototype was first shown, we're getting somewhere.

No mention of their brilliant decision to use 1/9 twist barrels?

Will standard AR barrels be compatible with the ACR?

Wouldn't the 14.5 come with a pinned FH?

I'd take a 14.5" barrel with a pinned comp (since I'm in a ban state)

Its Bushmaster making the announcement. Remington is LE/ Mil, Bushy is civilian. No full auto for civvies...

From Wiki:

The ACR is currently slated to be available in 2nd Quarter 2010 for military, government and commercial customers. The ACR will be available in greater quantity (tens of thousands) in the commercial marketplace in 2010 [9]. It is anticipated that the rifle will have suggested retail price starting at $2,500 - $ 3,000.00 (per Bushmaster Rep) with semi-automatic versions available to the commercial market, and selective-fire versions available for military and law enforcement under the Remington name.[10] As of October 2009, Bushmaster has announced that several consumer versions of the ACR would be available in the first half of 2010.

That's about 2x what I'd be willing to pay.

Nothx!

If I'm not mistaken Remington will be making the LE/MIL (ie autos), so since this is a Bushy release, I'd guess that's the EXPECTED semi-auto release date.

I want one too, and don't even know why. When I was at my bank a couple weeks ago, and deposited some money into my "ACR" account, the lady did this= ... obviously she is immune to the hype.

1. I don't care what price is given on someone's Internet cart. Until you can actually "Pay In Full" with a receipt, prices listed at this point in time mean Jack and Shit,

2. If it's $2,500-$3,000 then I hope they didn't make too many of them. A couple thousand units would be enough to cover the demand for the next year or two, at least.

3. I'll get interested when all of the promised trigger packs start hitting the market. Cool-looking rifle? Sure? Piston? Sure...for what that's even worth. Available in 5.56mm and (allegedly) 6.8mm? Hear that? That's the sound of me snickering and moving along.

4. 1:9" twist...I knew they'd Bushmaster (verb) that motherfucker somehow. Fucking cunts.

I'll still buy one, but only with a 1/7 twist barrel, the basic handguards, and the folding stock.

And for fuck's sake drop the M4 contour barrel and go with standard profile (lightweight).

I see that as a plus. I don't shoot bullets over 68 grains and usually shoot 55s.

I still think its vaporware.

Until I start seeing them in stores I won't get to excited.

How is 1/9 beneficial for shooting 55gr bullets?

They usually stabilizes 55s very well. I say usually because every barrel seems to be a little different. Odds are a 1/9 will shoot 55s better and a 1/7 will shoot heavier bullets better.  As mentioned in above posts the 1/7 is generally better for longer/heavier bullets like tracers or the 70 plus grain bullets used in long range competition.

BM is out of their mind if that is the real price. They will sell a few to hardcore fans that have to have one but it will die off quickly after that. If the $1500 price is true then they should have a hit on their hands, 1500 was the price that was tossed around a couple years ago when the gun was first announced.
