I saw postings and pics of those sweet new "plastic" AR mags and was wondering (maybe I missed it) when they might actually be for sale?? Thanks and keep up the DAMN FINE work!!!

Mags are being tested right now. You will have to wait for release till we finish testing. |
I can wait................I was just curious if either you knew or it had been mentioned and I missed it, or whatever.
Thanks. |
Till they hit market? That sounds pretty sweet. |
Hell at that rate I might have those befor my CP teflon mags. Can't wait to see how those lowers are going to turn out. You guys are just on a roll. |

Makes ME feel all warm and fuzzy............thanks!

OK
I just saw one of these. Someone I know has been running one for a few weeks. These are TOP notch! I REALLY like the cover plate! You guys really were on your toes when you planned this one. VERY smart how the plate pushes the top round down a tiny bit to stop the pressure on the mags lips. Really nice for storing loaded mags or for using on your mags when you are in nasty places and dont want stuff getting into them. Once people get the image of the old Termamold magazines out of their head they will go crazy over these. Cheers Magpul! ETA I really need to order some of the other new Mags with the window in the, they look nice! My only worry would be the window easily getting scuffed up? |
Magpul-
Do I understand correctly that there are two types of magazines you'll be making with the window? The first is aluminum, and the other is plastic (p-mag)? |
Yes the ALU and Steel magazines have a Maglevel window on the left side only. The PMag Maglevel mags have the indicator window on both sides. |
So is it also true that they'll be cheaper than standard AR magazines? Something like $.50 each?
Since we're nearing the month time frame, I was just wondering if there's a release date set yet. Thanks and keep turning out great products!

We'll start shipping PMAG's next week. Remember that there are a lot of dealers that have pre ordered these so it may be a few days before customers will see them. Dealers should be getting them the first week of March. We're suggesting right off the bat that you go to a dealer to buy your PMAG's. We are honoring dealer orders prior to individual orders. Enjoy and hit us up with feed back, good or bad when their in your hands.
By the way, here is a vid of the "PMAG smash" in motion.Video |
This new test video is a little unorthodox. If there is any doubt of the PMAG's strength this should change your mind. Just watch it, you'll see.
PMAG Video And yes, we know this is not "a real world" situation, just helps show strength. |
Nice!
That was one cool video. Sounded like you had some fun doing it to. Can't wait to try those mags out. Whats the MSRP going to be on the mags? Also who will the first dealers to get these be? Thanks. SB |
I just preorderd some. When will the window models be available?
Where did you pre-order from and what kind of dollars are we talking?? |
Bravo Company USA has them, and Northwest Tactical Supply. I imagine other Magpul dealers will be listing them too. $14.95 at Northwest. |

How much longer will it be for the OD mags with windows?
Thanks, Mark |
About a month.

7KOPPER,
Any issues using stripper clip spoons or the Lula mag loader? |
and a video of the window mag going through the same thing... Youtube video of window mag Chevy test |

Will there ever be a point where you produce enough of these to make them as cheap as the current GI mags on the market? I have several HK mags, many GI mags, and am looking forward to adding some of these to the collection.

Here's a write up from one of the Fellas that we work with that did some T&E on the PMAG. A little long, good info though.
March 02, 2007 Today, I received 2 windowless black P-Mags from Magpul for T&E. To say the least, I am very surprised at the rugged high quality of this piece of equipment. They are not what I thought they would be. These are possibly the best polymer magazines made on the planet. I am used to the high quality gear that Magpul has been famous for designing but I believe this piece is the best so far. They are definitely well made and after watching the Chevy vs. P-Mag videos I now see why they survived. They are solid! Not at all thin like the thermolds I have used in the past. The base is perfect for grabbing on a speed reload, and the mags fit perfectly in all of my gear. Most importantly, they fit in my fast reload FB pouches by Eagle Industries. Before seeing the P-Mag first hand, I wondered if it would accept the stripper clip loading spoon used by our military. I observed grooves cut into the top of the mag body where the spoon should fit and figured I’d give it a try. The spoon snapped on like a glove and all thirty rounds were easily pushed into the magazine just like they were intended. The P-Mags were filled to 30 rounds and the impact covers snapped on tightly to protect them from dirt, drop damage, and most importantly, to take the pressure off of the feed lips by pushing down on the top round in the mag. The magazines did not bulge, even slightly. I then grabbed my Colt Commando and attempted to load the full magazine into the mag well on a closed bolt. This usually proves to be difficult with fully loaded USGI magazines. The P-Mag went in smoothly and snapped securely in place with hardly any upward pressure. I repeated this with both P-Mags numerous times, and there wasn’t the slightest snag or drag while inserting the fully loaded magazines. Upon emptying the P-Mags, I performed the same task just as easily. Empty or loaded, the P-Mags dropped free without any snag or drag. In the past, I’ve had trouble inserting my USGI mags (Magpul follower and Lumpy plate equipped downloaded to 28 rounds) in the well of my commando while the bolt is forward. I usually have to push it in and give it a good tap for it to snap into place. So far, I am very impressed with the solid well made design of the P-Mag. They seem to be bullet proof. I’ll head to the range tomorrow and see how they perform under fire. March 03, 2007 We went to Adrenaline Proving Grounds in Greenville, TX to test the mags during live fire. To say the least, they held up a hell of a lot better than I ever thought a magazine could. I put them through quite a few drop tests on concrete, hard packed dirt/rock, loose dirt and on a railroad tie with nothing but a scratch or two to show for it. During live fire, I loaded all the mags using USGI green tip ammo on stripper clips. After getting them very dirty, they still continued to load easily. I kicked them, threw them on the road, and into the backstop. I covered and stomped them in the loose dirt of the backstop. I then picked them up gave them a shake and started firing. They worked on semi and full auto at any angle you could think of firing them. There were no problems dropping free, even after all of the dirt that was on/in them. They continued to fire like a champ. I did this no less than 40 times and they continued to run and gun. There were only two problems during the T&E. One was with an individual round and no fault to the P-Mag. The other was one of the times I had stomped, kicked, dropped and covered the mag in dirt and didn’t give it a shaking off. I started firing and the gun stopped. After close inspection to make sure it wasn’t the weapon or ammo, I observed that the follower had gotten stuck inside the mag. After tipping the mag upside down a couple of rounds fell out. Knowing what the problem was I just slapped the back of the mag on my leg. You heard the spring slam up and lock the other rounds back into place. I re-inserted the mag and fired the rest of the rounds on full auto without a hitch. I then picked the other mag out of the dirt and did the same without a problem. I had shot both mags earlier in the day, but did not have my wife to hold the camera for me. We came back that afternoon and did it all over again filming some of the testing. I put approximately 800-1000 rounds through the mags along with a few ounces (if not pounds) of dirt on semi-auto and mostly on full auto. In my opinion, these are some of the best made, if not the best mags on the earth. They have definitely surpassed what I thought they could be put through and continued to work. I know what would have happened had I done half of that to my USGI mags. I’d be a few short! They are good to go for hard use in my book. They are the heat boys and girls, and I can’t wait for ten in black and ten in desert earth for my personal and professional use. Officer Edit for privacy Garland PD Swat APG Small Arms Instructor |

Did you folks ever get an FS2000 to test the PMAG in? Find out if they will fit in the FS?
I have 10 PMAGs on order as well as a FS2000. If Magpul hasn't tested it themselves, I'll be happy to share my findings. |
We test with the FS2000 and there is a slight mod that has to be done to the forward edge to get the mag to seat. We hope to have this modification documented in the coming weeks. |

Any ideas if Brownells is going to carry these? |

I would like to know the same thing. Maybe they just don't know yet... |

These magazines look really good. I plan to pick up a few when I can.
I was wondering if any of your guys have tested these magazines to see what they look like through NV? |
Magpul or 7Kopper, can you tell us who has these in stock now? Denny seems to be the only one and he's on vacation. I've been checking around & no one else has them listed yet. Sooo, who getting shipments this week? I can't wait to get a hold of some of these. Great work guys!

I got mine today from Dennys |

What is the weight of a PMAG compared to a USGI and a C-prod Stainless Steel?
How much longer before the windowed PMAGS are available for sale?
Maybe I missed it, but I saw another thread that mentioned clear/translucent PMAGS. Is this true? If it is, why would you guys bother making windowed plastic PMAGS?
The material is different and as such has different properties. The windowed mags will have better resistance to creep in the feedlips and the clear better impact protection. |

This link should answer everyones Q's. I'll be able to answer your Q's if there are any not covered in the link. Exchanges will begin to ship on May 7th.
EXCHANGE As a side note, the 04/07 PMAG’s are going to be released to dealers around mid May. We did a significant amount of testing in and out-of-house. A large # of the out-of-house testers for the 04/07 PMAG’s were guys that had malfunctions with the Gen I PMAG’s. The 04/07 PMAG had zero malfunctions with over 30 out-of-house testers, all using multiple rifles and ammunition in addition to 20+ in-house rifles and multiple ammo with a total of approximately 28,000 rounds. Shoot the PMAG with confidence! Black non-windowed Flat Dark Earth non-windowed (start production in 3 weeks) Olive Drab non-windowed (start production in 5 weeks) Foliage Green non-windowed (start production in 7 weeks) Black windowed (start production in 8 weeks) Flat Dark Earth windowed (start production in 9 weeks) Olive Drab windowed (start production in 10 weeks) Foliage Green windowed (start production in 11 weeks) TPD (smoked) mags are sill undergoing testing and release date is unknown. Release may fall somewhere in the above schedule but also may be 12 weeks out. All of the figures above are ESTIAMTES! I know there are going to be a lot of guys asking when so there you go. |
