The only difference in markings is a CR serial number prefix instead if an LE prefix. It's still a role of the dice as to what markings you get on the upper receiver (C or CAGE Code or no C or CAGE Code).
So, can one swap out barrels or something to make a "regular" 6920 to a SOCOM? I know, very basic question, but I do like the SOCOM over the 6920.

I've actually seen more than a few for sale locally, pretty decent prices too, less than msrp ranging from $1100-1400. That's not bad for a socom but I only want the upper though.

The lower markings are what made the socoms special. If that doesn’t matter to you, it’s basically just a barrel and safety swap, add the rail and buis and you are there.
Better way to go would be to get a take off upper on the EE and sell the 6920 upper.
