Just wondering if anyone knew if maybe they were going to come out with one or if they would build on request.

The head armorer mentioned something to me about it at a gunshow back in November.
I can't remember when he said it would be out. WIZZO |

We'll be debuting a .308 at the SHOT Show, with late summer availability.
More details to follow. Steve/RRA |
My wife is going to hate that, me spending money that is. RRA 308 +1+1
Woohoo! If you can answer, what mags does it take? I would love to see it use the original AR10/SR25/DPMS mags, or a cheaper alternative that doesn't result in bolt failures. Very good news to hear. |
Details can't be shared at this time, but suffice to say that bolt breakage shouldn't be a problem.

I understand about the confidentiality at this point, so I look forward to the SHOT Show release pics. I'm glad to hear the second part of your answer as well. Thanks for the quick reply Steve.

Steve,
Please tell me this is true? I want a .308 real bad and was about to purchase a FNFAL or a DPMS real soon. This is the best news I have heard. Can you give any kind of info on this? What type of magazine will be used? Thanks, 77Bronc |
It would be awsome if it could accept G3 mags. You know, since I have an awsome abbundance of those.
Personally, myself and everyone I know would absolutely drool over a Rock River 6.8 Rem if it ever came out.
I hope that it will use/accept either AR10 magazines or DPMS/Stoner magazines. I recently picked up a AR10 and I admit I was spoiled over the interchangeability that the AR15 has, including magazines.
Will this be the same .308 that was prototyped a few years back when it was decided not
to put it into production?... Will it use FAL mags?....(gives us a hint please?) Hope this one turns out to be the ultimate .308 AR I'm with CAT on this with an abundance of G-3 mags as well.... Go RR |
hehe...
while i did start this thread hoping to get your attention RRAMODERATOR i dont think any of us are trying to drill you, i think it just happened. |
LoadAmmo is in the right neighborhood , price wise, on most models projected. A few with more features will be more money as well.
It will not be G3 mags. Initial offerings will be limited, but I see it growing in options as we get going on it. Just one page in the february catalog, and I'm already planning on moving that up to three to five for the July catalog (which will be much closer to actual production and delivery projections). More info as we go...right up to actual production and beyond. Steve/RRA |
I was joking about the G3 mags. It doesn't seem you could easily adapt the G3 mag to this platform. Not without major changes to the mag well and mag catch design.
On a serious note, will it be chambered only for .308 or will it handle 7.62x51 as well? |
AR10???
Wonder what the trademark attorneys will say?? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Maybe they combined forces with Armalite??? That would be HOT!!!! Wonder if someone could design a .308 lower that could accept various types of mags? |
Groovy |
Please tell us it will be compatible with Armalite and DPMS barrels, bolts and barrel extensions.
I'm a custom barrel maker and this would be very good for those that want to build different uppers. Also, it would be preferred to match either the Armalite/DPMS or Knights barrel nut threads so that existing freefloat systems can be utilized without the aftermarket makers having to make new barrel nut designs. I vote for the Stoner/DPMS style mag. |
Randall,
It (barrel)doesn't (to my knowledge) match any of them, but I can check with engineering (maybe even get to see the drawings) and report back. As for the mags, the decision has already been made, but I'mreally not able to discuss it yet. Steve/RRA |
No problem, see ya in a few weeks at Shot... |
Steve, this is the best damn news I have heard in a very long time. I'm definately going to have one. Thanks for building them. 6.8 would be sweet too if I don't already have one by then. Thanks a million!
Do you have an idea of when these will be going into production? I'm taking it that the rifle is just debuting at SHOT.
I need to know how long I have to save up money. |
Hi,
It'll debut at SHOT but probably won'tbe available until late this summer. Steve/RRA |
Terrific!
7.62 x 51 NATO with Rock River quality. Should be a winner. |
Steve, will currently available accessories work on your LAR10 such as the PRI FF tubes? If so, promise that you guys will work out any bugs before you release them and I'll start buying all the goodies I'll need for it. I've got an ACOG TA11C sitting here without a home at the moment.
I'll order one as soon as they're available!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
I was getting ready to buy a DSA FN when I heard this news. What I have in mind is a CAR length, good folding stock and an ACOG on this baby. Add a quad rail of course. As soon as I know more details, I will start buying goodies.
I have over 20 FN mags that I purchased a the NRA show in anticipation of getting an FN, wlould it not be great if the LAR takes these mags.... 77Bronc |
I have to check with engineering on various aspects of accessory attachment. I wouldn't pick up any expensive rail systems designed for other .308s quite yet.
Initial plans call for 16" mids, 20" rifles, and a 26" bull-barreled varmint style. Steve/RRA |
This is great news, I have heard a lot of good things about RRA. I too am in the market for a(nother) .308 semiauto and was leaning towards the FAL but I'll wait to see the RRA before I decide.
However once you start producing it, PLEASE continue with its production for decent amount of time (say 5 years or so?). I bought a Bushmaster .308 and feel very screwed by them for discontinuing the rifle AND not committing to producing key unique parts. This really really hurts those of us who lay down 4 figures for a rifle. Anyway rock on RRA, and I look forward to seeing one of these in the future. |
I'm not going to buy any accessories until I hear from you that they'll work. I'll be waiting for the news.
I saw the new RRA Catalog today, Front cover has the new model LAR-10 in 7.62 MM on it , Look's a little BM ish h
How do we get our hands on a new catalog, i didnt see anything on your website yet....
Several hundred went out htis past weekend that weren't supposed to until SHOT.
Sorry. Steve/RRA |
ooop's........... and thank's
By the way, Excellent looking catalog , even a centerfold pic , you guys should be proud of yourselves. |
woohoo im 1 of the several hundred and i like the mag that is on said .308. |
Damn, I was going to order a catalog a few weeks ago. I figured I'd wait until after SHOT as I just ordered one in mid December. You snooze you lose.
thats about when i ordered mine. i must have like rra said got lucky. |
You (RRA) just made my day! I was going to start building a AR-10 but, now I will save and wait for yours! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am good for one. I have always wanted an AR chambered in 308. Hopefully this will be a good value for us.
