Here is some highlights of a prairie dog town I shot up in Wyoming
Enjoy!!!! www.ifilm.com/ifilmdetail/2696624 |

I think saw a few other species besides prairie dogs getting popped there, you also said you got all 3 of them when the third clearly made it down his hole. Looks like you had fun, I sure do miss that stuff.

ballistic... fixed it so it's easier
Ballistic's Prairie Dog Shoot Now... tell us about the AR, ammo and scope, if you would. ETA: Good shootin' |
I just get an Ifilm page - nothing else. Searched ifilm for "prarie dog" 48 pages....WTF
Wouldn't come up in Netscape for some reason, so I had to open it in Explorer.
That was great.....reminds me of last year, and gets the blood boiling for this year!!!! What that you with AR?? |
Nice shooting.
I too took one out on the run last year --- that definately gets a good laugh out of the guys. I also split one in half at about 25 yards...one piece went right and the other left. I didn't see it as the scope jumped due to recoil, but the two guys were laughing for about 5 minutes... Shit load of fun....we are leaving for Montana 4/25/06 to 5/2/06 |
that's awesome. I want to do that sometime.
How far were you shooting? Looks like you made good use of that scope. |
Nice video,i can wait for summer, i am heading fo the badlands

Was it Noslers for every shot?
Early on in the video the effects don't look to be as spectacular. Of all the 223Rem loads I have tried, 2 bullets surprise me most. The Speer TNT and the Hornady Vmax. The TNT is so fragile that if you push it over 3200fps it tends to obliterate. I put the Noslers slightly behind the TNT and Vmax in terms of explosive results, I think the Noslers are slightly more heavily constructed inorder to survive higher velocities like 22-250 or 220Swift. Best I've ever seen was a Ca. ground squirrel that flipped about 6 feet in the air and landed about 15 feet away from the point of original bullet impact. Most rediculous kill I've ever made. First rule of varminting, aim for the crap factory so the violently expanding bullet can expand to it's full potential spreading 1/2 digested grass all over the hillside. One of these days I will go on vacation to a prarrie dog shooting mecca. |
Crap factory...That's great . The V-Max's is what I used, I don't have the data in front of me but I did load them fairly hot. You are correct, aim low and watch them fly. God Damn Good Fun.

Thanks for the link guys. I have not laughed that hard in a week. I love it when those dogs twist & twird through the air!!! Awesome video!
I have to try that . Maybe one of us ar15ers that lives is Wyoming will take us to a spot this summer. Ill go.
Killing just to kill...I don't get it. I'm definitely not against hunting or the otherwise necessary killing of animals, but blowing apart animals just for the fun of it is cruel. I'm all for having a great time shooting. Why not just shoot a bunch of shaken-up Coke cans at various distances if you want a challenge and explosive fun. Just pick up your trash afterwards and no harm, no foul.
The prarrie dogs atleast get a sporting chance with somebody shooting at them. Every miss makes for a more edumucated varmintcong.
Poison is a pretty indiscriminant, will wipe out the stupid vermin more positively and it may not stop with just the targeted vermin. |
I have no problem with the killing of certain animals if in fact they are creating serious problems and have been classified as a nuisance. Nutria here in south Louisiana eat up the wetlands, so I can relate as to how you're saying that the prairie dogs cause problems in Wyoming.
Any one else having trouble with the videos? I'm just getting blank pages and I'm itching to see this thing after all the comments.
Haha that cracks me up.
I've got to take a day trip over there and try that. I'd come back with sore cheeks from laugh so hard . |
Seriously though. Why do some just flip a few times and fall and others explode like they were hit by a HEAT round? |
+1 can't get it to work |
Nuisance........coyotes eat praire dogs!!!!!!!! Your logic for killing coyotes is flaud!!!!! |
ctnsupra1, Whats your email and I will send it to you. Some of these shots were after I ran out of reloaded v-max rounds and I had to go with the standard Federal 50gr hollow point value pack....Big difference is it?
Coyotes eat turkeys here in Michigan and I am a big turkey hunter, I only travel to Wyoming to kill mule deer and a couple of hundred prairie dogs.
That makes more sense.....i thought you killed coyote in wyoming as well......my appology..nice video |
