Is there any real difference between the Phantom 5C1 vs. Phantom 5C2 flash-suppressors?

I'm sending my post-ban uppers in to Adco to have a flash-suppressor put on. Do any of you have a preference between the Phantom 5C1 vs. 5C2 and why?

I like the looks of the 5C1 better but as far as I know there will be no difference in performance.

The front is designed to be sharp on the 5C2, so that it can be used as a sort-of-bayonet.
It has a sharp front edge.

Don't know about the ports, if they are the same?

The only difference are the points on the end. I ordered that one because it looks more evil!

There is no difference in performance of either model.

No, the 5C2 has a closed bottom port to reduce dust signature.

There is another Phantom that looks similar to the 5C2, but all the ports are open.

To clarify my question, I should have put these two links as well:

1) On Bushmaster's site, they have a picture of the 5C1 here-->www.bushmaster.com/shopping/brakes/yhm-28-5c1.asp which shows that the 5C1 has 5 ports with the 6th one being 'closed' so that you don't kick up dirt as much. I actually do understand what they are talking about since I shoot in a sand pit. When shooting in a prone position with a barrel rest keeping it about 10" off the ground, you 'kick up' quite a bit of dust with a bare muzzle.

2) brouhaha, as you point out, the 5C2 has the 5 ports as well with the 6th one being 'closed' as in this EE add by dennysguns seen here-->ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=25&t=211608.

To clarify my original question: Is the only difference between a 5C1 and a 5C2 the fact that the 5C2 has sharp 'extensions' that extend beyond the flash-supressor? Yes, the only difference is the 'teeth' on the 5C2.

I have one from bushmaster that look like the middle one YMM-28,but isnt solid at the bottom.

Sounds like you have the YHM-29 5 slot Phantom which is an exclusive for Bushmaster, us YHM dealers can't get it, but at least we're cheaper than them on all the others.

I just bought a 5C2 from Brightflashlights. It's off at ADCO now. Great price and service from Brightflashlights. I'd definately do business there again. A big +1

It makes sense to have the bottom of the flashhider closed to prevent dust from kicking up when shooting prone (like an A2). I have a 5 port Bushy Phantom (no closed bottom) and I recall it being suggested to NOT have one of the ports open in the 12 o'clock position.... I suppose to prevent muzzle flash from going straight up into your sight picture... is that true, or BS?

Bushmaster does have YHM-28 5C1 listed on their website. ($34.95 though- but if you are buying a new barrel this is a good deal to get it perm. installed)
