So who needs speed loaders? Am I the only one who does this... I haven't seen this presented in the ammo or mag forums, so if it has, sorry to waste anyone's time...

After a few years of using M193 exclusively I started wondering why the boxes have the preferation near the top of the box...

At first glance, opening the box here really doesn't speed up the removal of the cartrigages...

Well, I happened to have some stripper clips near an open box and made a connection...could opening the box near the top at the preferation allow me to simply slide a stripper on the cartriges while they were still neatly together in the box? Why of course!!

Not only that, sliding two clips is just as easy...

And the two loaded clips are also very easy to remove from the box...

So, am I just slow to catch on or does everyone else know this trick?
This is very fast... from sealed box to loaded mag... it takes less than 20 seconds to load.

I'll stay tuned for part II where you say "You know those little brackets in the camera called 'focus points'? You will not believe what I found out about them!!"

Just kidding man.

Hey, using the strippers on the ammo in the box like that may be general knowledge, but I've never heard of it in the many years that I've been playing with the AR-15.

Thanks for the info.

I'll try to put it to good use in the future.

Sonofabitch, when you promise a STRIPPER, give us a STRIPPER, not a stripper clip!

I didn't know this trick.  I might switch from Q3131A to XM193!

I bet those pictures weren't approved by kerry.  how dare you take 20 rounds and easily put them into a stripper clip, how evil of you, i mean, a whole 20 rounds.

Yeah bro, that's most likely why the top rips off.   God Bless the non-flash suppressed sporting rifle shooting the 193, what a fireball it gives off.  But tell you what, I've hit steel targets out to 300 metres with that ammo!

I can't ever get the box to open right on the perforations.  It's always a pain in the ass.

I just bought a LULA and gave up on the stripper clips.

When the hell did a dinosaur become a prerequisite?!  Damnit, I can't keep up with these ever changing dinner pic standards!

Oh, yeah, brilliant idea man.  Makes me feel like an ass for spending a couple hours loading stripper clips.

I do this with wolf, I take the ammo out of the box while still on the white plastic holders and do the same. It is a bit harder to do on the plastic holders but that is how I do it also. Thanks...

Never tried the whitebox stuff... but my guess is that the spacing in between the cartriges would be too wide to permit 10 cartriges to fit on a stripper.

Great observation!  I'm a Q3131A user and the rounds alternate directions in the box, so I couldn't even do this if I wanted to.  :(

How were soldiers in Vietnam issued M193... did the ammo come in the boxes we get today... or was it already on stripper, or pre-loaded in mags?

If the stripper clips work perfectly every time, they are faster in the end.  However.

1) You have to first load the ammo on the stripper clip, and then into the mag
2) The stripper clips rarely seem to work properly for me.  They're always binding, and rounds are falling off, and all sorts of other issues.  The LULA works perfectly every time.

Personally I'd rather just have all my ammo in mags rather than have to load off of stipper clips when I need it.

Two people are faster than 1.

One person steadies the empty mag in one hand, and steadies the stripper (WOOHOO!!) in the other hand - gloves recommended.
The second person uses the side of a magazine to push the bullets off the stripper into the empty mag.
Bend the stripper tab over so the cartridges slide off eaiser.

YMMV

I too wondered why the preforated line on the box. I always just thought it was so you could grab them out easier. Thanks for the info, all I can say is WOW!
