I'll problaby be buying a pencil barrel upper in a few weeks. So let me see them, so i can make sure I want to buy one.

Here's my little honey. An LMT upper with the barrel turned down, RRA lower, and a simple light set up. It handles great and shoots even better. With 75 grain handloads I've been getting 3/4" groups at 100 yards with a crappy 4x scope.

I just put a XS Sight Systems dot tritium and same plane GRA on it yesterday and I need to find a good 90 degree light mount and get a CQB sling. |

The barrel was cut to 14.5" and recontured by ADCO. The Vortex was attached permanently to stay legal. I don't think it's a crush washer as it seems quite solid. But I may be wrong???? Wedge http://img219.exs.cx/img219/1640/brake21qz.jpg |

Those are the only two AR's I have as of now, I plan on a few more. But to be perfectly honest with you, I've never shot them. I live in Charlotte, NC, and there's really no outdoor range around here. Closest one is a police range about 30 minutes away I think, that's only open to the public on saturdays for about 4 hours. Then the next is a few hours away. I have a wrecked car in my garage that's limiting me on getting out of the city right now, so I can't make it to a range to shoot them. The guys around here on the hometown forums get together at the range a few hours from here, but I just can never make it out there. First chance I get though, you can believe those barrels are going to glow. haha |

What barrels are on them? the newest upper I'm getting from eaglefirearms has a ERshaw lightweight chromelined 1/9.

Good Lord! That looks like an HBAR with lots of toys!! |

The A3 I have there is all bushy, barrel and everything, except the 4 position stock, it's unmarked. The A1 is half and half. The lower is bushy, 4 position stock is unmarked. The upper is totally unmarked. I got it off of a guy on gunbroker. The barrel on it isn't chrome lined either. It's in really good condition though, except the guy sent it to me with the filthiest barrel ever. He didn't even bother to clean it out prior to sending it. "Hey, I'll blow 500 rounds out of it, then send it to this guy" hah, oh well, it's cleaned up nice now though. I still wish I could figure out who made the thing. |

That looks sweet, I love the work ADCO does, Steve did mine last week. |

wedge, I must say that after your trim job, you are left with the perfect length and look for a civvie carbine. (or in the spirit of the thread..... car-bean..) Nice work. |

The one in the middle is Phat HA! sorry about that, how do you like the carbons? my guess would be alot
|
|
Hmmm... Now I REALLY like the top one. Shorter is better! BTW - how did you engrave the plastic lower when you SBRed it? |
|
|
Thanks both......
The engraver used a lazer to engrave it...worked out PERFECT....he charged me $5...I gave him a $10 and told him he did a great job. Big spender, huh |

What are the pros and cons of pencil light barrels vs. a heavier bull style barrel?
I just had a 16" car built with a heavy barrel and now I am thinking I should have gone with a lighter one. |
|
Heavy barrels are cheaper to manufacture and hold up to aut fire better.
Pencil barrels are easier to carry, swing better, etc. Lighter is usually better. |
