I have seen this name around here and was wondering about there quality? I am planning a future build and have seen some fair prices on these parts. How are they compared say to COLT, Bushmaster, and so fourth? h.gif
Thanks, Luck |

Please forgive me for my ignorance. They seem to be the same or higher quality!

Run a search using "LMT" as the keyword, you should get many hours of reading.
LMT produces and excellent product on par with Colt and Bushmaster. You will get positive & negative opinions. but that the majority of folks have been happy with LMT, myself included. |
|
Thanks. I have been reading and that should do me. Seems to be good stuff. Think Ill give it a whirl! Im trying to buy an ar now complete and hopefully build one soon after.

My LMT 14.5" M4Gery with permanently attached Phantom flash suppressor is a rock solid shooter.

|
Over priced and over rated. |

I love my M4 upper. Denny's Guns has a great price on 14.5" and 16" uppers.
|
|
On average, LMT receivers have the loosest fit and poorest finish of any I have used. Installing a barrel extension in one is like a baseball bat in a garbage can.

|
Ouchy! |

Most people equate premium price with premium performance. I "think" LMT enforces a minimum selling price policy. Thus LMT has a much wider retail profit margin than other makers. Having said that I have one and like it a lot. No problems. |
|
Good stuff
very popular choice for uppers, accessories like BUIS', and stocks,.............and lowers- now that I think about it top notch. |
|
You can order a 14.5, but will either have to have a permanently attached muzzle device that brings the overall length to 16"+ or obtain a Tax stamp for a SBR _Short Barreled Rifle. The former clearly the easier route. |

I run an LMT as my primary defensive weapon. It has been one of the most reliable weapons I have owned. I also build them (a lot of them) and have not come across any issues with receiver/barrel ext. fit.
LMT has also put out some lemons (like all companies) so they are far from perfect. C4 |

Usually I don't agree with you, but from my personal experience with LMT I must concur. I recently bought a LMT upper and it took me three times of searching through the box 'o uppers (fresh from LMT I might add) to find one that wasn't "jacked up". Some of the things that I noticed were sloppy upper to lower fit, barrel extensions/receivers not lined up, etc., etc. I'm not trying to "over scrutinize" the product as I am well aware of the specs that LMT is building to, but for the kind of money that these uppers are selling for I think that they (LMT) could greatly "tighten up" their QC standards. That's my opinion on the matter. YMMV |

mines great, extension and all, lines up perfect.
so far no malfunctions. the LMT bolt & cam pin fit/firing pin fit wasn't as good as the colt i've got, or so it seems. |
|
You can order any barrel length you can pay for. But if you install it onto a lower that is not properly configured and "designated" (you know what I mean) as a pistol, or not registered as a Short Barreled Rifle, you'll be breaking the law. |

I get the part about upper/loer fit, but what does it mean to have the barrel extension and receiver not line up? I am curious to go check the two LMT uppers I own. |

At the beginning of this year I built two LMT 16" M4 clones, out of defender 2000 lowers, and lmt 4 uppers, with identical operating systems. Carbine gas sys, lmt enhanced bolt carrier and chromed bolt, h2 buffer w/ hd action spring. Since I have changed all my brit sa80 mags over to wolf springs w/ magpul enhanced followers, I have elminated mag malfunctions altogether.
Both carbines have a nearly identical fit and finish. Frankly its not the most amazing finish I have ever seen, but aside from scratches I did, the finish is uniform and even, and of good dark/rich color. The upper/lower fit is a not exactly loose, but it certainly isn't super tight either. It has a bit of play. Actually, its very close to the upper lower fit I have on almost all of my colt factory rifles. The front sight tower was dead nuts on both rifles. Both of these rifles have been unstoppable so far. It took close to 2000 rds to stop the one I did an endurance test on. And even then I just needed a little forward assist action. Others can form their own opinions, and im sure there are people out there differening experiences, but I have been impressed so far. I think they compare favorably with my Colts, and those are hands down my favorite. Take care John F. |

I've been very fortunate, both of my 16" LMT M4 uppers have run flawlessly. They were both excellent deals and I couldn't be happier with them.
Both of mine are oddballs-they lack the LMT logo on the receiver and neither one have RAS numbers. The finish on one had a couple of small pockmarks, but they shoot perfectly |

Don't disagree, but CMT (STAG) doesn't offer 1/7 twist or M4 barrel ext. C4 |
|
|
I thought they were going to offer 1/7 barrels very soon. Though I don't know what type of steel it will or if real M4 extended feed ramps will be offered. Is this still going to happen or did CMT change their minds? |

|
CMT WILL be offering 14.5" M4's with 1/7 twist and 4150 steel in the future. As of right now, they do not. C4 |

|
My LMT was an ultra tight upper/lower fit. Best finish ever seen on an AR. Better than any Colt I have seen with my own 2 eyes. I will never buy Colt again.
Oh wait... I have a Colt M16 bolt and carrier in my LMT. |
|
+1, I think that CMT quality is alot better |
