12.5" NOVESKE, HEADED FOR THE SANDBOX. SHOOTS SUB-MOA.

ANOTHER SUB-MOA 12.5" NOVESKE, THIS TIME WITH LARUE 12.0 FOREND.

MY FIRST 7.5" NOVESKE 6.8 SPC. YES, IT RUNS. SURPRISINGLY CONTROLLABLE. MOST UNUSUAL MUZZLE REPORT, BUT OK WITH JUST EARPLUGS. FIRST FIVE SHOTS ON PAPER WITH REMINGTOM 115 GR OTM WENT 1.4". IT WILL DO FOR ACROSS THE ROOM NICELY.

Not to irritate but;

1. Where do you get the etching done?

2. How do they get the white on them?

Reason I ask is I have refinishing some of mine and have been trying to figure out how I can get the lettering on them and I also want to have some engraving done on them.

Also, was this an idea you decided to try out or has that upper been purpose built for a specific request? Sounds like a bad mo'fo' for room clearing.

Oh yeah, the MUR looks pretty awesome on these SBR's, but for close range work, do you think it offers any major advantages over a traditional reciver? Outside of looking completely bada$$.

I know it has advantages from a precision rifle standpoint, but what do you gain say, inside 100yrds.?

THE 6.8 SPC OFF THE BENCH. THE BEST IT WOULD DO WITH HORNADY 110 GR VMAX IS 2.25" FOR FIVE AT 100 YARDS. THIS IS MORE THAN ADEQUATE FOR ITS INTENDED PURPOSE, OF COURSE. 100% RELIABILITY, TOO.

A COLT M4A1 UPPER COSTS $250. THEY ARE GOOD BUT NOT GREAT.

LMT WILL NOT SELL JUST UPPER RECEIVERS SINCE SO MANY UNSCRUPULOUS DEALERS WOULD INSTALL JUNK BARRELS AND THEN TRY TO PASS THEM OFF AS ALL LMT. LMT RECEIVERS ARE, AGAIN, STILL GOOD, BUT NOT GREAT. THEY WERE ONCE BETTER THAN COLT. WE PULL THEM ALL THE TIME FROM COMPLETE UPPERS TO BUILD CUSTOMS. WE HAVE LOTS OF LMT C/L BARRELS LAYING AROUND.

I HATE TO SAY THIS, BUT STAG HAS BECOME HIT OR MISS WITH RESPECT TO QUALITY IN THEIR RECEIVERS. THEY USED TO BE OUTSTANDING. A GOOD STAG RECEIVER IS A GOOD RECEIVER. HOWEVER, TOO MANY NEED TO MAKE THE TRIP BACK TO CONNECTICUT. THE ONES WE KEEP NEED TO BE MACHINED SQUARE.

I believe the carrier is a Young unit.

Wes, so you're saying the flatop is 100% square to the bore?

My CMT is not, hence my LT 9.0 (and I assume my barrel) angle up ever so slightly.
