it is made from a rifle, leapers is involved, the wholesale price is extremely low, like 50.00, i have seen them, and played with them, they are not near the quality, craftsmanship, or fit and finish as the american masde stuff it appeared to be cast aluminum, not extruded or forged, and i was really not impressed, especially when you can get an american one for 120 bucks i will not have one of them on my rifle, i am trying diligintly to avoid chineese products, I would tell you more about the company making them but i would probably get sued |
IM me what you "know" about leapers/UTG, OK? I'd like to hear this. I have 2 sets of these mounted on my CARs, they are very solid. They don't move at all. If you buy from CTD they DO NOT come with rail covers. I bought my second set from ebay for like $57 and they came with rail covers.(search frase: a"armalite 4 rail handguard" I think.) Scratch off the little UTG logo and everyone will think it is some hot new product and be very impressed. |
| I just bought a set from JSE surplus for $57.00. They came with rubber hand guards.I put them on my CAR and so far seem very sturdy. They lock down to the barrel nut with 2 hex screws and cover the cap behind the FSB and also tighten down with 2 hex nuts. I mounted a vert grip on it. T-marks and the fit and finish on mine was good. Until I have a problem and I don't forsee one, I think it was a great buy. Also was the exact height of my flat top Bushmaster. I've never owned an Airsoft rifle. Does it have a barrel nut? These hand guards are made to tighten to a barrel nut. |

BTW and FTR, these are good railed handguards, I wouldnt call them Great. I have seen many AR-15s sporting these at the range. Sorta pisses me off I bought the cheap First Samco M44s..owell Also you cant find these for under $70 now. When they first came out they were $47...then more and more people found out that they were good.... If I'm going to spend $70+ shipping...I'm going to hold off and buy American. |
| Available for $60.00 at airsoftgi.com. I bought a set just to see how well they fit and functioned. So far, so good. Quite nicely made and very solid after installation; no movement at all. They seem as solid as my YHM. There have been several posts indicating they are manufactued from extrusions, then machined. Don't know if the alloy, heat treatment, and anodizing are as good as other available units, only time will tell. |
| They've actually been out for about 8 months. I don't know where leapers came up with new this year. I bought one when they originally came out from copesdist.com for $75 or so. They're milled aluminum and hard anodized and your supposed to get the rail guards included(or atleast it says so on the box). |
| I have a set on my SBR and would have paid twice that for them after installing and using them. Solid. Company I work for sells YHM, DD, and Surefire. I could have bought them at cost. I took a chance on the UTG and will be buying another set. Worth twice what they cost. |

I just got a set I bought on eBay. $67 + shipped. Sure beats the $300 I spent on a KAC M4 set with the wobbly bottom. They came with the rail covers. I put them on a 16" CAR wannabe, and they fit, and feel great! I put a KAC VG on them, and it looks up tight. The box says hard anodized, made in Taiwan. For the money they're a very good buy, IMHO. |

I mean, if you really think about it, what is the intended use of a drop in rail system? You are going to hang a VFG and flashlight. Maybe a bipod. If you wanted to mount an optic you would have used a free float. So while the idea of putting chi-com stuff on my AR leaves a bad taste in my mouth, I don't see any reason why not to use this set up. I know plenty of peoples who KAS rail system on their M-4s is wobbley as hell. Its not because Knights is bad, its because that is the design. I think those UTGs look halfway decent and might buy a pair down the line |
| Sounds like they work pretty well for the extremely low cost. I might have to pick one up sometime to test it. Hell, if they'll support a VFG and a light and remain stable, that's all I'd need really. I have used the Fobus M33's for that purpose on some of my carbines up until now with good success. So I am sure this UTG one would have to be tougher and more stable. |
I used the Fobus and the UTG's are a world apart. |

Yeah, some pics would be nice. These are all I could find on AIM's website:   Again, for someone only looking for something to run a light and a vertical grip on, one of those should suffice if they fit well and aren't fragile, which it doesn't sound like neither is a problem. I would probably want something FF and of higher quality if I were planning to run optics out front. But for a grip and/or a light, this should be sufficient to meet most people's needs. |
 To cast a piece like this would cost more than an extrusion, and both would require additional machining so that makes no sense. |
