What type of range are you guys getting out of the .50 Beowulf? I am seriously considering puting one together but, I would like a little bit more info on it first. Could I expect to be able to reach out to say 200 or 300 yds with it or, is 150 max or, what? Thanks...

Man that thing drops like rock past 200 yards.

I am curious, and perhaps a little ignorant, as to why the 334 grainers maintain a higher velocity past 50 yards over the lighter bullet of the 325's?  I understand why they would over the heavier 400's... but thought the 325's would be a bit faster than the 334's with a little less energy...?

The 334's would appear to be "optimum" in regards to velocity AND energy over the 325's and 400's...?? hinking.gif

I believe that it has something to do with the ballistic coefficient and the design of the bullet.  I've been out of the reloading game for awhile.

Like that is the correct deduction... I have ALSO seen the 334HP to be highly more accurate in comparison to factory loaded 325HPs.

I've shot mostly 334's and I have found that they do seem to be more accurate than any of the other factory loads. The 325's seem to have a little more punch than them though.
I just got about 150 rnd of 334's reloaded to AA's specs on the load data sheet and will hopefully get to try them out this weekend.
Comparing the design of the 325 vs the 334,m the 334 does have a better aerodynamic shape.

If you plan to shoot to 300yds.......zero at something in between.   Zeroing at 100yds for shooting to 300yds is silly, unless you will RARELY do it.....

A 52" holdover is going to be a bitch....

Defintiely.
If 300 is what you feel you'll typically be shooting at, Shivans idea would be the best.
Split the difference where you don't have to fight such a large holdover.

If you zeroed the 325gr carbine barrel at 300yds...

Where did the BC come from???  That looks terribly low, even for flatnosed 50cal ammo.

I have been trying to find a site that has BC's......is this off the net, or just info you have lying around?

A link would be AWESOME, especially if they have the whole gambit covered.......

You should pick up Sierra's Infinity software, its pretty cheesy but lists TONS of bullets from most every manufacturer, and though it is limited, you can find it for like 20-25$.

It creates basic but functional charts and graphs of velocities and energy.  It is way limited compared to some programs but for 20-25$ it is pretty cool.
