The Daniel Defense Omega Rail is a light weight free float rail system designed to use the existing Delta ring without modification. This two piece rail utilizes a Patent Pending System which allows the upper receiver to have a continuous uninterrupted upper rail platform, while allowing for a simple and rapid installation.

Features

*Built in QD mount with overtravel limiter
*Aircraft grade Aluminum with Type 3 hard coat anodizing
*User installed drop in unit which requires no modification to weapon
*Estimated weight of 8.5 ounces including Delta ring and barrel nut
*Mounting screws are coated with thread locker
*No tools aside from a flathead screwdriver & the included allenwrench are required for installation.
*Preproduction model pictured, the final production is marked patent pending

Very nice, any chance for a 12" version? Do you want a KAC RAS on trade?

What keeps it from rotating? I assume the set screws interface with the barrel nut.

Interesting

I see that the once it is installed on the weapon, the screws set deep enough to allow those slots to be utilized. I also like the extension over the Delta-ring for a continuous rail with the upper receiver.

Indeed, many of the LEO involved in the T&E with this felt the rail was perfect, with that being one of the listed reasons.

I've been waiting for a rail system like this for my GI M4. Us Army guys aren't allowed to mess with the weapons to much, like removing the FSP to install Rail systems. I also think this would be great for the LEO for the same reason.

That's one innovative rail! The two piece design looks like it also lends itself to easy disassembly for cleaning.

It certainly should. I'm stuck on some ongoing projects, and probably won't have the time to pull my Omega rail off and put it on any of my straight rings. If I get the chance, I'll do it just to get some pictures of it on an A1 upper....

Will it work with an HBAR carbine (I have a Colt 6721 that needs an FF rail)?

Does the narrower interior space hinder cooling at all?

Also, does it self-align or is there a technique to getting everything straight when you mount it?

No problem with the HBAR.

Does the narrower interior space hinder cooling at all?

Not in our experience. We've done temperature testing and the temp. at the shooter's hand was similar to other rails.

Also, does it self-align or is there a technique to getting everything straight when you mount it?

I recommend using a scope mount (or similar) to bridge the receiver and the top rail while you tighten the set screws.
