Troy Industries is now shipping their new 7" (carbine) tactical handguard. It is a 2pc unit that does NOT require a gunsmith installation.
It installs much like regular plastic handguards, and then has 4 socket head cap screws to secure the top and bottom sections. The quick and easy install handgaurds are getting super poplular for folks who do not require a free float, and this Troy Industries Drop In handguard is an outstanding option. A flat dark earth option is also in production. Features: Numbered cross slots M203 Capable Accepts 360° push button swivels (sold separately) Positive clamping provides true optical mounting platform Installs in less then two minutes Does not alter weapon Weight 8.5oz Made in USA. Priced at $149. We have more information and pictures at this link to our website If other Troy Ind dealers have some pics, please post. |

Is this the drop in ff like what was posted by stick in wevo www.weaponevolution.com/forum/showthread.php?t=262 |
I think it is. Just not sure if it is a FF or not? I will have to install one to be sure. Troy's website does not sepcify. |

I was lookin at the DD omega 7", but if I could get ahold of a troy free float for only 150 Vs. 240, count me in big time |

I'm wondering if it's thin as well. For $150 Bucks, this may just be my next set of rails. |
I will confirm tomorrow at the shop. Thanks! |

Will it fit over that fat-assed barrel that RRA leaves under the handguards?
Fair enough. I prefer the KAC panels over the fat Tango Down panels. |

I would have expected a free float like the Omega, but the price is right
It would be interesting to put a set of these next to a similar set from another company and compare them for tightness on the gun. And to see how well the two pieces go together.
I checked, no KAC cuts. |

I have a wobble in my handguard cap. All I will have on my rail will be a KAC VFG, but I want it to be solid. Will there still be a wobble with the rail, or should I go FF to avoid it?
Dealers, any idea when the FDE colored ones might become available (if they're not already)? I've got a brand new set of Magpul lower furniture that's looking for a matching forend. :)
Don't have an exact ETA, but it should be too long.... |
Do the QD swivel mounts swivel all the way around, or do they have limiters? Lets hope for limiters...
just checked, 360 degrees |

Paul,
Can you take a picture of the top piece on the inside where it would go around the barrel nut. I want to see if these are like the former Samson DIs. The Samsons had 2 steel pins that would lock the top piece into the notches of the barrel nut providing a solid, wobble free, lock up. Thanks |
Yes, it is very similar to your description. I will try to get a pic up soon. It might be a little bit, because its a super busy Monday. Thanks! |
Rats. Still better then a clamp on. Maybe they'll get that on the next run. |
Thanks! Maybe my funds availability and the release date will coincide somewhat if I'm lucky. |
Woah, at this price there will be no more reasons for the airsoft faggots to keep buying toys for their real guns.
Off topic I know, but Troy shouldn't be posting pictures of Old Glory in retreat. |
Will the Ares gas piston setup clear the underside of the top rail?
Looks like a sweet rail. |
I dunno about their standard handguards guys but I have a Troy FF and it kicks @$$
Are these the same handguards that come on the M&P 15X?
If so, they are awesome. |
Yes they are!!...Looked at a 15X today.
The only difference is that the 15X has the S&W logos. |
Just got mine a couple of Day's ago and it is absoulety rock solid.
I did notice that the S&W 15X had a different finish, but it ain't no big thang. Thanks PK..Excellent service... |
No, but I have machine them to fit the ARES and with ease of removal aare a great choice in a non-floating rail for the ARES. $35 to machine them plus return shipping. |

I just bought a set of these and mounted them on my AR. They are simply incredible. It took all of 1 minute to but them on and they are solid. Though I haven't tried it yet, they seem tight enough they might support an optic without a problem. I'm very impressed with this product and will gladly buy more mods from Troy Industries. I mounted a Command Arms Flashlight Grip Adapter on the bottom rail and I have experienced no movement.
Sorry for the lack of a picture, but buying accessories has kept me from getting a digital camera. All I have now are really bad quality pics from my phone. I would have no problems recommending these to anyone. For the quality you get, the price is definitely right. |
Thanks for the reply. Good info! |

These rails look almost EXACTLY like the Midwest Industries drop in rails I bought about 2 months ago. I wonder if their is a huge quality difference, enough to make me switch over. So far I haven't noticed any slop in mine either, they have been pretty rock solid. Any opinions?

I don't believe the 15X railed handguard has the QD sling swivel mounts that the MRF-DI has, does it? |
these are good, fair price, rock solid, very easy to install. blue locktite needed for the rock solid part... cheers
