Nice!

I figured LaRue would come up with something like their Eotech mount for the Aimpoint and Magnifier.

I think I like this combo better (less weight when using the Aimpoint by itself).

The upper receiver in the solid rendering does not look normal.  Is it their old Optimized Upper?

The upper receiver is LaRue Tactical's.

Yeah, I meant "their" = "LaRue's"

Does this mount put the Aimpoint as far forward relative to the mount foot as the KAC?

That looks COOL!

Is that going to be beefy enough?  The curved part looks kinda weak.  It would be cooler to have more of a look like this:

But then, anything that smacks the optic hard enough to break that metal part... it probably soing some serious damage to the optic anyway.

How is the price going to compare to the current LaRue aimpoint mount?

Alrighty then... Uncle Harv might just have to dump his ARMS for this bad boy.... (but only if I can get it in the cool blue color)

Just make sure you inform us as to when a system comes out for Eotech's magnifier

Damn. I'm tempted to buy an Aimpoint now.

I'd much rather see a straight design than a curve.  Not sure if this will be enough to want to ditch my GGG mount...I never take it off anyways...

Aesthetically, I am a bit disappointed.

The function part of it may just be enough to make me want it though...

Mark is a smart guy, that's for sure.

So, the current CCO mount will take the magnifier when it comes out? That is what the engineering drawings seems to indicate.

Looking at it more.... I'll bet the curve in the cantilever allows more options to have more clearance over other FF tubes.... some with the nuts that stick out more than the Larue tubes.  Pretty smart.... make it where it will fit with whatever gear you are running.

The price should be around $135.

Wow, quick detach and close to $70 cheaper than the KAC mount...  Bitchin'.

i do love larue products...

my question about the 3x...

it seems that the catalever puts the aimpoint in the exact same place as the rasII hump does... if this is the case... when i was looking at that one gunshow pic of the aimpoint staff having it mounted on a blue plastic fake m4... it seemed that the acual aimpoint is mounted further forward than the rasII hump to get proper eye relief for the 3x...

again this is speculation since we won't know for sure until it comes out....  but i'm hoping it'll be able to extend it further...

the thing i HATE the most about this product is the fact that its going to suck another $100 dollars out'a me

it seems to be also it can be used in conjuction with another normal aimpoint mount to create a lighter tactical scope mount for an spr... i may look into this for my SPR

i sort of agree.... but i don't think its a big deal...   any idea on the weight of the final product?

Thanks grant for hooking us with these early pics

Nothing at all.  The Aimpoint + Magnifier will have probably the worst light transmission of any magnified optic on the market.  ACOGs have excellent light transmission and will weigh half the weight with more magnification.

I was hoping it would ease demand = ease cost...

value = demand x availability

Not trying to replace ACOGs, but I'll take the M2 + mag option for ~ similar cost vs something I can't get if I want to...

Yeah, but Aimpoint, plus mount, plus magnifier, plus mount..... is probably getting close to a lower cost ACOG.

yeah but if you go aimpoints way... .you'll have the option of switching between the speed of a red dot... and have the option to extend your range...  not just have a semi fast all in one package... this way people can buy as they go... get an aimpoint... and then down the road get features that can compare with the acog...   i personally don't want an acog... i like the aimpoint... and the 3x allows me to get more range out of the aimpoint

Yup, and for (maybe) ~$450 I can have a magnified optic w/o BDC AND my CQB sight of choice.  Yeah that's *almost* there for an accupoint (again no BDC), but wouldn't get me much of an ACOG.  I'll have both eventually but I'd rather get this soon than a TA11F someday.

I'm speaking from the chair of the LT mounted ML2 owner, of course...

I concur with the above. Ditch the magnifier for CQB applications. Use the magnifier for long ranges. More versatile I'd say.

Hey grant, any idea if the magnifier will be compatible with the Tripower?

i'm not grant... but it should work just fine...

it may work better with the tripower since the reticle is more defined...

3x magnification of the image is fine but I am wrong in assuming the dot will now be 12moa.  Getting out past 100 yds you wont be able to see your target anymore.  Whatever you gain in image size seems to be taken back by the dot size.  Correct me if I am wrong but I just don't see how it can work otherwise.

It doesn't alter the size of the dot.
