Hi, Need some feedback on Yankee Hill/YHM-9756 single point sling end-plate. Is it bulky? Because it looks wider than say Daniel Defense end-plate. I need one for HK style hook single point sling. Thanks in advance

IIRC, I thought they were stamped steel instead of aluminum, which means they tend to leave sharper edges. That isn't as much of an issue with a metal hook as it is with the adaptors that run a sling through themselves. I'll try to dig one up and double check for you.
They are also going to be more bulky than the other style sling plate, which is another reason why I'm not a huge fan of them. I run a Daniel Defense sling plate, and while I wish there was a company that made a slightly lower profile unit, the DD is currently the beast to beat. I am also only using the TAG Industries A.S.P. Single Point Sling, and I already have a quick release unit built into the sling, so I'm able to avoid using any metal hooks.... |

My thoughts exactly. Expect it in the near future. I decided way back in the beginning when I designed the ASP that a custom single point receiver end plate would be a plus. Standard plates use 1.25" sling slots and since the ASP uses 1" webbing, its the equivalent of a person with a size 10 foot wearing a size 12 shoe. Its a 100% functional combination. However, improvements could (and have) been made with regard to fit, profile, and usability. Since I reduced the slot width the plate now has a much slimmer profile and is hardly noticeable out beyond the receiver. Furthermore, the slot height was reduced to 1" and lowered along the y axis. This solves the problem of the loop blocking the forward assist for lefties (like me). Though I hadn't planned to announce this until the first prototype was in hand, today is my birthday and I felt compelled to say something in light of Stick's post. |

Thanks guys for your replies! I also look at Daniel Defense but do you think its loop would bind with a metal hook attachment? Because it looks very narrow.
The metal hook can bind with ANY attachment, which is why I won't use them anymore.
Damn, J,
With the design of that sling plate and the overall kudos for the ASP, you'll have me giving up my two point yet. Any idea on when you'll get them to production? I'm thinking I'll have to do a combo order... |
The problem with attaching a snap hook which is round at its insertion point into a slot which is rectangular is the possibility of binding. Binding can and will occur given these circumstances. The Daniel Defense loop is made of 6061 T6 aluminum, the hooks are sometimes found in steel and/or zinc alloy. Binding between anything can cause part failure. If you simply must run an H&K snap hook, buy a receiver end plate made specifically for them --- the ones with a donut shaped hole instead of a slot. Round peg in a round hole = Good.
You don't have to give up anything. But you can't go wrong supplementing with a single point. Each serves its own purpose. Too early to give an ETA. I completed the CAD drawings Friday and submitted them for prototyping. As soon as the prototypes arrive and are tested for tolerance and overall fit I will put them into production. If I had to guess, I would say we are at least a month out. |

Thanks JTrusty! I was ready to order a Daniel Defense sling mount but fortunately they are out of stock, even checked your site. Again thanks for the info I guess I will get a YHM.
Use the same exact set-up (DD Sling Plate/Tag Sling). Researched the heck outta it (plus asked JTrusty a million questions) and decided on this. Everything I heard was that the DD was far more superior, stronger and smoother than the rest. Worth the extra $. Oh, and Stick? I love how you illustrate your points with photo(s)! |

I think most of us here are visual learners, plus I enjoy taking the pictures, so it seems to work out....
I use the one Clubsoda22 shows with only one loop.
No problems and low drag. |
Happy belated and such. Any idea when the new unit will be available? Is it going to be ambi or will a right and left handed versions be made? I also like the shorter sling slot. |
Thanks!
I should have a prototype in hand before the end of the week.
No ambi plates. A dedicated lefty and a dedicated righty will be produced. |

Finally!!!!! I see no point of having loops sticking out on both sides short of having it as a pool weapon or dedicated training weapon. |
Word, yo. I don't want to dick up a perfectly well-machined item with a Dremel if I can get a right hand point. |
I've had to use my mad dremel skills more than once to fix an ambi sling mount......
I kept an ambi plate on one so my brother could shoot it, but he's gonna have to pony up for his own soon. I'm just going to wait for Jason to get his production run in and order another sling and plate together. |

I had a question regarding low profile sling mounts earlier this morning, and this thread popped into my head.
Is this idea still a go, are we getting close, or are we still a ways out on development? |
I have a YHM slotted slngle point sling mount and it sucks. It sticks out too much. The reason I've been leaning toward an HK clip style with a single "donut hole" style because the donut hole sticks out down away from the receiver at an angle, not to the side where it gets in the way. I hope this makes some sense.

If I knew all it took was me pestering you, I would have done it earlier.
Please hold one off to the side for me, my info should be on file, nothing has changed. |

that does it.....time to place an order found them on the website but, what's this ?
aw....are they ready for general consumption yet ? Mike |
TS. I've never seen that YHM part with a slot. It looks like all theirs are just holes. You sure it's YHM?
Yes, and some people are already getting them in the mail. We need a new thread to discuss them.... |
Hoping to get one by next week, but I've got a second lap around Texas in as many weeks from Tues-Thur, so it will be a while before I can play with mine.
JT, when are the rh models going to be back in stock? if ever since it was a proto?hinking.gif
Once the prototypes are gone, they are gone. They will be replaced with the final production units when they are ready. They are already cut. Just awaiting anodizing and laser engraving. If I had to guess, I would say another 2 possibly 3 weeks. |
i guess i'l have to wait then. the final run's will be the same though?hinking.gif

No, the A2 stock requires an A2 sling loop. Daniel Defense manufacturers a loop specifically for the A2 stock |
how about a pad for that single point sling?....something to keep things a bit more comfortable during a full day of training if ya know what i mean....anybody make one...?
Pads are trouble looking for a place to happen. Let Tampax keep them.
