SureFire's new K2 "Kroma" LED flashlight may not exactly be a tactical system but it will offer many variables for the user. The main beam has 2 settings, 15 lumens on low and 60 lumens on high. Surrounding the main Luxeon LED is a ring of lower ouput LED's that will generate blue or red light depending on what the user desires. These LEDS are controlled via the selector ring very much like the SureFire U2 Ultra's adjustable settings. The small LED's are dual mode as well, providing 3 lumens on low and 15 lumens on high in both red or blue.

- two stage tailcap activation for immediate low to high activation


BTW, I know 60 lumens doesn't all that appealing but actual performance may differ.  Not all of the details are set in stone yet, the estimated release is April.

Aside from the colored low output LED's, the main differences are:

- Redesigned optics which should improve down range performance

- Two stage tailcap which will provide low output with partial pressure or press deep for immediate high output w/out having to dial it in like on the U2

Quoted: I've actually looked at this for a weaponslight.  Not certain what the body diameter is, in order to pick a rail mount.  There's also no tapeswitch tailcap, but perhaps other SF tailcaps are interchangeable?  Will the head fit any other SF body (I like the idea, but wish it had IR LEDs and fit the MU series lights) for use as a CQB light?  Guess we won't know until more specs are released.

The U2 head assy. will fit the MU series mainbody so you can use it as a weaponslights.  The U2 & Kroma are not a 1" body.

As for the Kroma, I don't want to confirm the compatability of components until I actually have one in hand.  I'm not sure how the two stage tailcap will affect conversions.
