Concerned anout outdoor throw.  How much throw will this get outside in a field?

Can this light be made brighter?

The Scout can be upgraded with the LU60A bezel that uses the P60 lamp. Once you have the bezel you can use any of the high output LED lamps on the market. This one has a Cree Q5 LED from Bug Out Gear Link with 225 lumen output for 3+ hours of run time. The throw outside is phenomenal and the spill inside is just as good. There are more drop-ins on the market and they are getting better all the time. The LED's are also almost indestructible and the Scout is lighter and smaller than the M95. You can certainly upgrade the Scout and continue to as these LED's improve. Hope this helps.

Cree LED in a Scout light is superb.
This is an early Malkoff LED with 170+ lumens and excellent run time.

Will the MN03 bezel work as well?

Yes the E-Series incandescent bezel screws directly onto the ScoutLight housing body.
(this configuration is the M600B)

Thought I wanted one until I saw the price.  Ridiculous.  Surefires are great but geeze!

I have a Surefire Z2, an e2E, five yellow Nitrolons, but there is no way in hell I'm paying that much for a rifle light.

Get a Vltor Scout mount for your E2E, it basically becomes an M600B (just no tapeswitch).  I have a Vltor mount for sale.  IM me if interested.

glckshtr and edwin, very nice setups!

does anybody know if the UE00 tape cap switch from the M600 will fit and operate a P6?

No it won't.  The UExx tape switch only fits E-series lights and the L4.

Try BrightFlashlights. Their prices are affordable. They beat Sure-fire retail by a huge margin!

Oh, and thanks M4-guy.

will the LI60a module with a cree led bulb help the throw on this light?

I think you mean the LU60A module?

I have a Wolf-Eyes Cree P60-type drop-in and it out-throws both a KL4 (on the M600A) and an MN03 LA (on the M600B).  Higher output drop-ins, like the Malkoff M60, should throw even better.

Edwin:

Awesome Krink!

How do you activate the light - are you left handed?

The scout is a very versatile platform.  I run mine in the MN03 "B" configuration with the push button.

Yes I meant the LU60A - thanks.  What kind of throw are you getting with the wolf eyes in the LU60A?

Thanks,
I shoot a rifle left handed, but sometimes on my AR-15 MRP SBR with or without the GriPod use the light in the 6 O'Clock position and activate it with my knuckle.

does the arms#17 or 17s work with this light?

Not a scout light, but I'm using a Midwest Industries MI#03 Tactical Rail & Vertical Grip, with a FAB Defense PLS 1 - Flashlight Side Mount, holding a Surefire 9P with a Solarforce Cree Q5 drop-in.

I can't testify how tough it is, cause I haven't mistreated it yet.  But I got a descent 230 lumen weapon light for about $165 total.

If you look closely, you can see where I had to trim the vertical grip some with a Dremel to get adequate clearance.  Once that was done, it worked like a charm.

The WE LED is installed in another light, but since the drop-in includes the reflector, the beam should be almost the same in the LU60A.

The WE easily iluminates objects 50 yards away with good detail.

The ARMS#17 doesn't fit.  I don't think the #17S does either.

LaRue makes a mount that fits it - the LT172.  See glckshtr's pic at the top of the thread.

I was thinking about getting one, but this thread pushed me over the edge.  I got one now.
