I bought a new a2 barrel but the fsb is missing the part that the sling mounts to. How do I instal that little rivet in there?

Once you obtain the swivel and rivet, you can use a tool like this to set the shop head of the rivet........

This is what the business end looks like........

This thing is a rivet tool for small aircraft disk brake pad rivets.

cool, hopefully my gunsmith will have a tool like that. Do people really reline brake pads for airplanes?

Yes.  Essentially all general aviation (smaller) aircraft use disk brake lining that the mechanics rivet to the backing plates with brass rivets.  Bonded, throwaway pads like you buy at the autoparts store aren't used in aircraft installations.
