You can try and freeze the upper, which will make the metal contract, thus causing the interior diameter to increase, however it will cause a waterlogged dowel to expand, possibly a catch 22! My personal choice would be a remove the barrel, clamp it in a vise and use a plastic coated (metal one piece) cleaning rod with a 24oz dead blow mallet. The drill bit is an idea, but I would definately only use that as a last resort! Hardened Carbide steel in a Chrome Moly barrel would be a bad idea!
If anything that you should have learned from this experience, it should be don't use a dowel to try and remove a FTE! Sorry it happened that sucks! Wolf ammo is crap, I have used it and once you try NATO M855 or XM193 you really realize why quality ammo is worth the money. Just my $.02
