Hey all. I'm not all that familiar with the parts of an AR but i think i may have the problem I had. Can you tell me if i'm correct?
First off teh problem was that the bolt would not lock back after the last shot. spent shells would stovepipe and not eject all the way. if they did eject, then it would not load a new round and i would have to charge the gun again to load the next round.
Now this gun is not brand new nor is it an antique. has probably less than a thousand rounds through it and it functioned perfectly every other time out.
so i took the gun home and opened it up to clean it and try to figure out the problem. i found that the part on top the bolt carrier that connects the the gas tube was loose(sorry don't know the name of the part). it's held in with two hex screws. seems they were just loose and the part was a bit wobbly. i tightend it, completed cleaning and put it back together.
Now i think this solved my problem but i can't be sure cause i can't make it out to the range till late this week. I would like to know if that part on the carrier being loose would cause the above problems and if i most likely fixed it. otherwise tell me what else it could be that's wrong with it.
my AR is made by bushmaster.
Please advise. thanks a lot in advance.
