I can wait 3 weeks easily. I've been waiting over 1 1/2 years. It seems like an eternity though. I should have bought the muzzlebrake when k-var had them, but they didn't have the FSB at the time. Now it's visa-versa. Go figure. Please keep us posted. Can wait till they hit the market. -vato   3-7 can you elaborate anymore? If not I totally understand. |

I am the one making these. Like 3-7 said, they will be exacting no-compromise copies. They begin with 4140 steel, are machined on a CNC turning center, and then all secondary machining processes will be done. They are then heat-treated to factory specs and hard chromed. It is really much work and many steps for such a seemingly simple part.
The heat-treating is really necessary and should be done on all parts of this nature. The hard chrome is done to improve stability and wear over time due to the exhaust pulse delivered through the unit each shot, as well as corrosion. I can sell these in virtually any level of completion if there is sufficient demand. These will be a substitute for the original Thanks, Chris AK-USA |

Me or Chris will post here once they get done. Plenty of pics.
We will have 125 in the first batch. A few will not be hard chromed for those who dont want the extra cost of the hard chroming. All will be heat treated! Besides the Romanian muzzle devices is there any interest in Saiga or modern 100 series, US made exacting copy, gas piston? The solid piston head type, found on the saiga line of rifles.  Shawn |

As far as those pistons, they should be easy to make for someone already making a US copy, since it is basically a US version minus some milling steps. I'd check with Red Star Arms if you think there is actually a demand....I'm kinda up in the air on that part. take care, Tec |

IMHO, I don't think that there would be a big market for the "Saiga/AK100" style gas piston. Maybe with Saiga owners who want to do pistol grip conversions. Do a limited run and see how they sell. Just my .02. But your Romanian 22mm muzzlebrakes are the bomb! LOL.

Also, how should these Romanian type compensators be finished?? Do we leave them in the white, bead blast, parkerize; manganese or zinc phosphate, black oxide, enamel??

Chris! This is so great! I am very excited! My vote for "finish" of the Romainian 22mm muzzle break is a split vote! I personally want one that is left "in the white", so I can bead blast it, park it and paint it with the rest of the rifle. However, I realize some of the guys just want to "plug and play" the muzzle break on rifles that are already finished. I'd phos park some of the breaks for these guys. It seems to me that it is going to be pretty hard to please all of the people all of the time with so many choices available! Hardened, chromed inside, and in the white outside is just fine with me! Both my Romanian brakes are parked on the outside and chromed lined on the inside while my Global (now Armory USA) made brake is just parked throughout with no chrome. Also my Global made 22mm brake is just their 24mm with 22mm threads. It is slightly bigger in diameter to the Romanian one's I have because it's almost flush with the locking pin making it a little more difficult to push the pin in. Make sure you don't do what Global did with theirs.

We wont. You guys will like them. They will be to the same dimensions as the original Romanian comp.BTW The first samples were completed today. So hopefully late next week I should get one in for evaluation.

I will buy a couple! I just cut off my FSB on my SAR2 today and then realized no one has a Romanian-type 22mm brake. I couldnt believe it! but this thread has saved my ass! PLEASE Keep up posted on the ETA of when these go to market... thx again

So which finish do you want? Parkerizing and Black oxide are different finishes. Black oxide is bead blasting and hot blueing. |

when I called Global trades they said they didnt have a AK74 brake in 22mm thread.... now I see that they use the Bulgarian 24mm with a thread insert. Has anyone bought a 22mm brake from them recently? when I called them yesterday the girl who answered said their website had a typo and they infact didnt have any 22mm threaded brakes, just the 24mm,.

You don't want a Global brake anyway because the larger diameter makes it kinda hard to push the locking pin in. BTW, the brake doesn't have a thread insert. It's just not machined out to 24mm like a regular Bulgarian brake is. |
