I started with a Butler Creek Side folding stock for a Mini14. I got it off the EE at a great deal just for this project. I cut a "tang" off a fixed stock from a Romy. I fitted the folding mechanism against the tang and used structural epoxy and 3 screws to join them. I am amazed how strong this joint is. I then drilled and tapped the top of the folding mechanisms "box" to accept a short machine screw so I could screw down the tang that extends from the reciever over the stock. I topped it off with a cheek pad made from some Ace foam and a little duct tape. I know, I need some black.

Ah!  Duct tape.  "The handy man's secret weapon!"

Very nice job!

I got to the range earlier. It shoots very comfortably. I have to admit I prefer a regular stock though.

Congrats on the great project!

I've had much the same thought about the Butler Creek folder. Except I never find any cheap enough. Around here used and abused goes for almost full retail.

Well I removed the duct and foam. I found some soft rubbery clear tubing I am going to try. It looks much better.

There are "dip" styrene products. Friend did one on a Ruskie style retractable stock. Looked great.

cool how about a picture of the whole rifle? I kinda like the Butler Creek stocks not real pretty but they work good. I have one on a 10-22.

Ask and ye shall recieve. Being a Saiga, I figured it wouldn't ever be but so authentic ak styled without alot of work. I decided to go the "truck gun" route. It isn't real pretty, but it shoots really well.

Note that the angle of the folded stock means it doesn't interfere with thecharging handle.  Looks nice, good work!

I actually cut the block specifically to do that. It all lines up REALLY well.
