I rented a (well worn) G22 recently, and noticed when I slapped a full mag in forcefully, the slide slammed forward by itself. Thought it was just a tired old gun, and I wound up buying one anyway, 'cause I liked it overall.

But the brand new G22 I just bought does the same thing.

If you push the mag in slowly, the slide stays put. If you insert an empty mag, the slide stays put. But if you pop in a full (or partly full) magazine like you mean it, the slide releases every time.

But, a cop I know has a G22 that NEVER does this!

So whose gun is normal, his or mine?

It's normal. I have a bunch of Glocks and I can do it with all of them even new ones.

Normal, all of mine do this, dont count on this though and make sure that your still practicing pulling down the slide release.

Yeah, all of my semi-autos do that, including my Beretta, Sig, Kimber and Walthers.
