Taurus is going down hill fast. LOL So will that mean that every one that purchased a PT1911 has a real Colt. Gulp. Does it mean that every one that has a Colt 1911 just has a Taurus now. LOL |
If they start selling normal production guns to normal citizens and don't muck up the quality I say bring it on!
Wouldn't hurt if they could dial the prices down somewhat! |
+1 Could be the best thing to happen. |
Huh. I might actually buy a new production Colt.
Didn't see that coming. |
A foreign company purchases a legendary American gun manufacturer and the quality and customer service actually improves.
I can see that. |
Will the Rampant Colt be replaced by the Raging Bull?
Semper Fi |
Its sad, but probably will take foreign ownership to lead to decent domestic market ARs out of Clot. If that happens it's a good thing.
LMAO |
I've heard that Taurus wanted to get into the carbine game now that they brought out their tactical 1911 (sorta like S&W and their M&P line), but damn... This would be some sh*t. Maybe Colt Manufacturing, but I doubt Colt Defense as well.
I heard Taurus got a Gov contract for 20,000 M-16s and that Delta is going to Taurus Pt1911s!!!
I was about to post this in GD just to see what would happen. Taurus does make long guns they just don't sell them here. A couple of these look interesting. www.taurusarmas.com.br/?on=produtos&in=armas_policiais
Taurus is owned by Forgas Imbel a brazilian company guess who is visiting W now for a US-Brazil CEO conference.
Is this true?
Can it be true? Can a foreign company breath life into the intent of the second amendment better than an american company? Say it ain;t so Joe! |
After seeing how SW, Ruger and Colt have handled the 2nd in the past, I'd say its mostly the foreign companies that are keeping us floating. |
My apologies if it's legit...but this is a good reminder to stay off ARFCOM tomorrow.
If this were true, it would be the funniest damn thing I've ever heard relating to firearms.
Then on the other hand, I think it would be a massive step forward for Colt. My guess is it's Michael Bane's idea of an April Fool's joke that will receive more praise than speculation. |
Anybody think this would add colector's value to current colts?
I wonder if pre-Taurus firearms would demand a higher price among the snobs?
I really gotta laugh if Colt does get bought out by them. |
Well I used to not like Taurus. I think they have turned quality up. I like mine.
Colt and their lovers have been too upity for me sometimes. Yet even at that I said NNNOOOOOOOOOO! Colt did it to themselves thumbing thir nose at the consumer market for years tho. Had to learn the same lesson as S&W the hard way. Still sucks. First Winchester now Colt. |
I fondled a Taurus 94 22LR wheelgun. Right after I put it down I picked up a S&W M617. It was painfully clear to see where the money was "saved" in the Taurus.
I'll gladly pay $600 for a new M617 instead of the $300 for a new Taurus. |
The Colt of today is as much a 'legendary American gun manufacturer' as is Springfield Armory Inc or ArmaLite-Eagle... Eg - They're NOT... |
Now, if the OP statement DID happen, that would be IRONIC... The owners of Colt would also be the makers of Springfield's 1911s... |
Well, I think it's time this week to order that lightweight commander I wanted.
FWIW, Colts making decent money these days with plenty of orders for their weapons. Multi million dollar contracts with governments tend to be lucrative. |
some of you are fricken brain dead. look at the date
also taurus is to good to acquire colt |
I just cant support a company that wont support my RKBA, they obviously dont want their 'evil' featured ARs in non LEO/mil/gov hands. Why would a support a company like that, I dont see how y'all do it
Hmm Lets see what we can read in the above links and what we are talking about.
So you are saying Colt's Manufacturing Company LLC. has government contacts. No that is Colt Defense. They have 2 divisions. Colt Defense is not for sale is my understanding. Here is my thoughts. I could be wrong, but Colt thinks you are not worthy of them. So the civy division is not either. It would have ben sold long long ago if they didn't overprice EVERYTHING! True story or not that is. |

Sounds like Colt manufacturing may have been sold. Not Colt Defense. Not the first time Colt has been foreign owned. Hopefully Taurus will start making Pythons and Anacondas again
APRIL FOOLS |
Colt split into two companies a while ago and is owned by a NYC investment banker.
One division is busy with long arms, the other is "limping along" with low sales, old machines, etc...ie, no investment in the future!! IMHO, the civilian division sale is not an "if", just "when" and "who". Hopefully it's a "gun" guy or company. STI was rumored to have interest in the civilian division. Looks like they went the "other way" with their own SA revolver and additional 1911s, i.e. single stacks small and large. I have no insider information, but the "signs" are familiar. IMHO, being a Colt shooter, they need a new owner. Just hope it's the right one. |
You've never heard "I liked it so much, I bought the company!" before??? |
Taurus has been a better company than Colt for years now.
I still doubt I'll spend my money on anything with 'COLT' printed on it. |
