Hello gun owners,

I am new to the 1911 guns and I was hoping if people could give me recommendations on which brands and models are good to get and which ones to stay away from.  Any recommendation would be much appreciated.  Thanx.

Spring Field, Kimber, Wilson, S&W, And a bunch of custom makers out there are all  good
You have to decide what features you want in one ,How much you are willing to spend for one and then go from there. I have a Spring Field TRP , and a Kimber CDP and like them both,I think my next one will be another Kimber. If  you go with a Kimber you can't go wrong

Dont do it, stay away from 1911s.    These things tend to multiply.   Soon you'll forsake the other handguns in your collection, they'll start gathering dust.    Next thing you'll sell them off to buy more 1911s.

I started with a Springfield govt model, still have it.   It's my favorite pistol.    Also have a colt commander and a new springer GI model.   For a base pistol it's hard to beat the Springfield GI.   Mine's well over 1K rounds without a hiccup of any sort.   Good tight slide/frame fit and the barrel locks up much better than my Colt.   $399 OTD for the GI.   Tough to beat at that price.

+1

How much do you have to spend? It will be much easier to make a recommendation if we know your price range.

Thanx for the fast reply everyone.  I was looking at some S&W 1911.  I am looking for accuracy, and as for the price range, I am willing to spend up to $500 - $1,000.
