Trust me....my balls are feeling a lil brass like tonight. Plus I was bored! NC: I dunno when the true finished project will be just b/c I've went back and forth so many times trying to decide on a pattern. We do have pine type bushes outside the complex so I may just go w/ that. |

I like Krylon paint jobs. Cheap easy and if you mess it up or decide to change it you just strip it off. Great stuff. I have a couple shooting buddies that think I own a dozen AR's when its just one I keep repainting as I feel like it.
The list so far. "old army" Cam OD green Digicam in ACU, Marine Dig, Urban, Multicam (Love doing cutout paterns) Tigerstripe, Jungle, sandbox, Urban, and an Urban with Purple stripes. And now I'm back to black |
That looks great, I can't wait to see Stage 2! Oh, by the way: Colt's Manufacturing lost, Bushmaster won, you can ditch the "gery" and call it an "M-4" all you want.
Ya I've done Krylon on my Glock (which for Krylon has held up damn well on the frame), 6005, dusting some gear, along w/ some other parts/furniture. I love it for the exact reasons you listed. And after awhile I know what you mean...ya just gotta go back to the basics....Back In Black...rings a bell (ACDC) |
Thanks......well if I start callin it an M4 I feel kinda lost w/ out the happy switch |
Please go take that outside and low crawl with it for awhile, then run some roll over prone drills at full speed. It needs to scratches, chips, and scrapes, then it will look the way God intended.
Nice job, are you going to mist any accent areas onto it, or leave it like that? I know what you wrote in your original post, but I was wondering if plans have changed. |
Stick...thanks...I've got so many ideas of patterns I just can pin down one...but the nice thing about Krylon...as you know...
If I mess up...I can simply remove it or start over. I'm thinking hitting it w/ some medium brown and OD....not sure though. |
Please elaborate. Thanks Hellbound. |
Pretty awesome so far, keep it up and dont let the detractors get you down...
Lookin' good |
Precisely... I mean, I know what I'm talking about cuz I'm such a high speed operator. I just stay overweight so I blend in with the public. I smoke people think I can't run that fast. I drink to keep my mind numbed out of fear that reflexes will get the best of me. Hardcore. |

I think what he means is if you are going to put this much time and effort into a project, you might use a product that is not going to rub off or smear the first time you get a little Hoppes #9 on it. BTW - Your rifle is looking really good... |

Oh Heavens, no. I hosed down my M4, M203, and ACOG with Krylon in a most random manner. |

Welcome to the Krylon Kult.... |

I am doing an SKS in a aimilar manner. I will post pics when I am done. Hell. Ill do it mid paint tomorow. I got a chinese SKS with a bulged barrel. It was at the tip, and I cut it down an milled the barrel to accept the front sight base. Now I have a folding stock on the way and a 10 round original mag in the rework. I bought it for 39$ Im sinking in 30 and some time and paint. This should be fun..

Nice...I get what he means now and after reading his reply below yours I see. Eh...it's a fun gun anyways and I'm not secret spec op army seal door gunner or anything so if it doesn't work...it doesn't work...then I'll just re do it. BTW just got my tracking number from FedEx and my other paint colors should be here next Tuesday (the 10th) so this is getting delayed for a few days but that is good b/c I have a paper to write for one of my LE classes. Thanks for all the replies and encouragement guys! And besides..if I wanna go back to black...I'll just build another one...as I have once before. |
Sounds like a fun project bro. I need to get me an SKS...I already have the ammo so why not!?!?! Definitely post pics when you're done. BTW in case anyone is wondering...I was going to do the blue painters tape route and mask everything off but that shit was pullin up the paint ... May try it again tomorrow w/ the other side (it doesn't have the green paint on it yet) |
Go ahead and post a pic if ya want. I'd like to see what you've done.
There is rain, wind, and cold weather in the forecast for the next few days and the colder it is the more the Krylon splatters and creates blobs....so I may be on hold for the weekend. |
Where did you get the Krylon from (I'm assuming that all the colors you need weren't at the Home Depot and you had to order online).
Looks good so far, I'm thinking I might do my .308 like this. |
Here ya go
www.acehotline.com/search_results.asp?txtsearchParamMan=17&txtsearchParamType=ALL&txtsearchParamCat=48&txtsearchParamVen=ALL It's more expensive than it is in most stores but it's seriously the only place I could find the extra colors w/out order a crate of each color... |

Thanks! That pic is kinda blurry...so once the paint dries I'll take some more pics. I'll eventually get around to painting the other side. Probably tomorrow or something. Wind is really picking up here! I just wish that white wouldn't stand out so bad. I may mist another coat of khaki on it. |
Post some pics of it! Preferably of you carrying it in Iguana Macs! |
I Krylon'd one of my basses awhile ago....turned out alright but didn't hold up for shit the more shows we did....especially right where I rested my palm. BTW Mark....here's a desktop I made a couple years ago and in the pic below you can kinda see the krylon job... |
