I have a 77/357 that I had cut down to 11” but I think this one will need to be shorter since I’m using a bowers vers 50 which is almost 12” long.  I think I’m leaning to chopping 12” off which would be a 6.5” barrel like the last picture shows.

Ehh, I’m inclined to say right at the end of the stock but I see your point
What’s a ballistic table say?
Thick woods hunting? Just target shooting?
Excite to buy a new suppressor? Lol

ETA: wow, I’m disgusted with 77/xxx prices on gunbroker!

I cut my 77/357 right to the end of the stock and it looks pretty good.  The bowers 50 is mostly for my 500s&w.  I might get a 45 cal can that shorter at some point but no time soon.

Right now at that barrel length I’m shooting 260gr cast bullets at 1150fps I think.  But I’ll probably end up shooting mostly 300gr.  And I should be able to get them to 1000fps without issue even with a barrel down to 4”

Prices are crazy but you should see how much that 10 round mag costs.

Nice. Got any pics?

Your original idea of the 6” barrel sounds cool

Please tell me about those mags!

I've got a 77/357 I've had cut down for years. Would love higher capacity mags.

They don’t have any mags right now for the 77/357 but I have seen them on their webpage before.

I go back and forth on that.  I think if done professionally it could look great but if I did it myself it would be a disaster.  I have a synthetic one on my 77/357 so I could switch them and cut the synthetic one up.  Or just get a Boyd’s stock and butcher it.
