TNVC recently completed our final Nightfighter 201 class in Grandfield, OK at Badlands Tactical on 21-23 October.  We did this class with a Nightfighter 101 that started on Saturday night.  It was great to have 40 Nightfighters running around the town—I joked that we increased the population by 2% that weekend.

The class was made up primarily of civilians—nearly all of them recent NF101 graduates and a lot of familiar faces.  This is great to see and certainly excites us personally and professionally to see average earth people out there investing their time and resources into training.

Badlands Tactical is a special place for us.  Bobby, the host, is amazing—a true “salt of the earth” kinda guy.  Works hard to accommodate our classes and students, and we cannot say enough good things about him and his facilities.

We also had a unique opportunity this weekend.  The town of Grandfield wanted to do a BBQ to thank us for being in town.  We turned it into a fundraiser for the Volunteer Fire Department, which we also added a raffle for some gear.  We ended up raising over $2500 for the VFD, an incredible amount of money.  We are lucky to have such generous people in our community, that would donate money to an organization that serves a town that they do not live in.  It was a very humbling experience for sure.

We had the last grasps of summer this weekend.  Highs got into the 90s, but it wasn’t too intolerable.  The rain did come, which is much needed in the state, but it showed up after the classes ended.

We did not have any gear or firearms related issues.  Everyone prepared properly for the course, and good gear makes for great classes.

The NF201 course builds on the skills learned in NF101 and takes it up in both tempo and difficulty; we step on the gas pedal from the very beginning.  It is really a problem-solving course—applying the technologies and skills learned in previous classes to help you solve problems in a variety of environments.  

We saw a lot of “software upgrades” this class.  Understanding your gear, how to best use it in a variety of environments and being able to get the capability you are looking for is the desired outcome.

We want this class to be a logical progression of NF101, and I think that most students felt that way with their progression.  More freedom is given in “how” to solve the problem, after the students determine the who, what, where when and why about the problems they face.  Just be able to explain your decision—and it worked well for the students.

Badlands Tactical will be a staple venue for as long as we teach courses.  We will be back there several times next year; the dates are on the schedule and seats are filling up.
