Ok with the upcoming LCR shoot I would like to point out a few things.........

Every shoot gets bigger and bigger, which is a great thing, but here are a few concerns I want to bring up before next weekend.

1. We have never had an AD or an ND at a shoot. With the large number of shooters and guns at the shoot, we need to be very strict on the firing line, hot/cold range, muzzle control, loaded/unloaded weapons.

2. More and more kids (12<) are coming with their parents, We need to be good role models when shooting. We also need to watch the commentary around the campfire when the kids are around.

3. Do not bring anything you don't want to be seen. Should be clear enough.

4. Absolutely no DRUGS. I will remove you personally. We don't need our whole group placed in danger because you think pot is socially acceptable. It is not at the LCR shoots.

5. We will have a range/safety meeting Saturday morning when the morning group arrives. CavVet, 1GR and others seem to make great range officers and will go over the basics.

Bottom line is we are going to have fun, we always do. We just need to make sure everything is safe and we will be all good.  Hope to see everyone there............

+1

I'd also like to add:
some Targets that are NONO:
Televisions
Computer Monitors
Glass Anything

Bring any of the above items and CavVet and I will escort you into the pit and supervise as you pick up every peice and place them in YOUR vehicle for disposal.  WE got to pick up somebody else's bright target idea last time.

Lets be respectfull of those who do the cleaning up and if you can, help out with keeping the site clean.  We want to be able use it again.

On annother note.  We will probably be bringing Hippynik's younger brother (15) along.  Please don't encourage him to sneak a beer or smoke, or to do anything that a 15 year old shouldn't be doing (legaly or moraly).

-Thanks

ETA:  You may refer to him as slave_boy as he will be bringing very little ammo and I will be making him work for any I give him, you may as well. "FETCH ME A BEER, SLAVE_BOY! ok here's a box of ammo"

I assumed that every shot that you took was a AD scrun, as much as you shoot.

I agree with the above. Fortunately most people seem to have a knack for what is group acceptable, and our shoots so far have always been a smashing success.

I will add one more thing thats been in my head.

Children should have a bedtime. If that means you need to go to bed as well, so be it. Its not fair to expect everyone to be as self composed later in the night. I seemed to go to bed before grownup hour got in full swing last time, which brings up one more point.

Those of you at grownup hour need to insure correct activities are pursued. Drinking and guns or driving strike me as a bad idea, and peer pressure should be used to insure such. .

Overall I think we have always had lots of fun. Lots of shooting, eating and late night hanging out. I think if everyone is respectful of others rights, everyone will continue to have a good shoot.

+1 and I won't even be there!

I only piped in to mention that 'orange or yellow' nylon rope for use as the Firing Line designator.  We'd mentioned something like that before in another thread.

And, not 'bunching up'.
Leaving a bit of extra space between each shooter's area and having all that behind the firing line, with mag loading being acceptable but not loading the guns until at the line being extra safe.

A little extra space helps with being able to see what's going on around you.

Hope I didn't infringe.

I want to add one thing.

If you shoot 100 rounds, then BEFORE YOU LEAVE YOU NEED TO PICKUP 100 PIECES OF BRASS. Many people come and shoot, then leave trash. If you pack it in plan on packing it out. I got stuck with 10,000+ rounds of fired brass/steel. There are plenty of opportunities to pick up your share of brass during the shoot, and if we have to we can have a short cease fire and cleanup just so it doesn't get too bad. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about taking the brass home, I've been throwing it a couple handfuls at a time in the garbage can(when I remember). For previous shoots on sunday several of us have had to spend 30 minutes on hands and knees picking up all the brass, if you pick up what you shoot then that shouldn't have to happen sunday.

ETA: I got a magnet that I will be bringing to see how well it picks up the steel cases.

I dont think we have much to worry about.

We only have 30 people signed up in the headcount thread.

I agree and Jackson will be in bed at 10:00-10:30 probably right after a small night shoot, hell he will probably fall asleep earlier than that.

as far as slave_boy is concerned.....he may stay awake pretty late...but you all can be as rude, crude and socially unnaceptable as you want.  He's no stranger to that.  (I've met his dad)

I'm willing to take brass home, sort out the good Lake City from the bad and make it available to the reloaders, for a small fee, of course......
