Well, I didn't go hunting because I was in St. Louis doing computer stuff all weekend. But one of my customers has a story to tell. I sold him a Bushmaster M4a3 "Patrolman" model a couple of weeks ago, and he has barely shot the thing. He brought it back into the shop to have me look at the 3x9 scope he mounted on the flattop using a CMMG riser mount, and right there in the shop the charging handle broke, right where it interfaces with the gas key on the bolt carrier. I couldn't believe it, I've never even heard of a charging handle breaking there, especially not on an almost unfired gun! I called Bushy and they didn't give me any crap, they sent out a replacement ASAP which has already arrived (took 4 days), but the guy wanted to take the M4 deer hunting this weekend. So I let him borrow a charging handle out of one of my ARs so he could hit the field with a functional AR. Its only good customer service right?
So Saturday morning he's in his tree stand, in a heavily wooded area, and spots a good sized doe coming down the path. He calls her in to 50 yards and drops her with a single shot through both lungs which also nicked the heart. She runs 20 yards, but right towards him and lays down right there. By the time he got out of the tree stand and walked 30 yards she was dead. Ammo was 52 grain soft point, I'm unsure of the make.
Anyway, he called me yesterday after work to tell me all about it. He was pretty darn grateful that I lent him the charging handle, I think I've got a repeat customer on my hands! LOL
