Isn't that the most dangerous pass in CO?  I could have sworn I saw a guy in a Jeep say that on youtube before he went down it.

For some reason, there are all kinds of crazy rumors about that trail. It is like a 4 rating, and the only part that is difficult is a tight switchback, otherwise it is a very easy trail. IIRC, a couple people died on it a while back, due to a freak snow storm.

This is my first year 4x4ing and I have been trying to stay to 4-6 rated trails since I found pretty quickly even this early that anything less is packed with too many people.

Awesome area, some of the most scenic trails in the world, but nothing real technical. Most of the high passes are closed until July. The main downside is it is a popular area, so the traffic can be a PITA.

Your first pic is a nice step on Black Bear I believe. We did that run in the rain last summer. Pucker factor was high.

Spent a bit working on it today.

One of these is not like the others...

The rear wheel seal was leaking so I figured (especially since it was actually making the abs kick in from oiling my brakes) it was time to take care of that before heading out to the woods again.

Old and busted.

Very badly soaked.

Getting cleaned up.

Shiny!

This is the back side of that wet rotor.

And it looks like another project is on the horizon.

I am not giving photo bucket any money.  I did rear wheel seal and brakes on the 80.  While there I noticed the left rear shock was leaking so now I can buy new shocks too.

ATC, which is similar to Leer, but a little cheaper with the same exact hardware.

Dynamo:

What tires do you have on your Tacoma? Also, if you don't mind sharing, where are all of these places in your pictures?

BFG Rugged Terrain T/A 265/70/17 - much quieter;  they replaced the KM2s I had on previously

In this thread:

PA near Pottsville and Reading

Moab UT White Rim

Chile Challenge in Las Cruces

Mogollon, NM

Timberon, NM

Lincoln NF

Monticello Canyon - those pics with water

Areas just East of my house less than 5 minutes - those are the flat areas and an area called Red Sands which is pure sand and no plants/rocks.

There is diverse terrain within 200 miles of El Paso that makes for great wheeling.

A lot of people that come here don't like the area, but those that like the off road will find plenty of great areas to explore with little to no B.S.

My '14 TRD Sport 4x4 6 speed.

On the John Day River

Loaded for camping. 2200 miles in 7 days to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons.

The day I bought it.

Only had it a month, racked up 3500 miles. Been in the snow, dirt, sand, and mud The stock Dungflop AT's are horrible, about the only issue I have with the truck as is. Gearbox is a little noisy but I knew that was the nature of the beast before I ordered the truck. Going to change the gearbox, t-case, and both diffs out for Redline at 5k miles.

Yeah 35's. Got them for $600 on craigslist with less than 1000 miles on them. they looked brand new. then sold my old 33's today for 200 so I think I did alright.
got 4.88 gears right now and my biggest debate is do I got 5.29's or stay with the 4.88's.
The pic shows her good side haha. My dad bought her new in 1988 so she's been in the family her whole life, and most of mine.
future plans are engine swap, dual cases, and 4link the rear....maybe she will be complete by the time I have a kid that can drive haha

All the Luxury you would expect out of an 80K vehicle that can do things like this - stock while seating 8.  Incredibly reliable and robust. Lots of tech and comfort.  Drinks lots of fuel

Dont give up, it will be worth it.  Remember, there are only around 13,000 or so 200 series LC's in the states so they can be a bit harder to find.

Well, think of it as a 100 with a lot of cool features. I like the styling and generally, because of the low sales numbers, they are fairly rare. I do not like driving a car to work where I see 10 more on the the way. I like being unique.

That, and they are super comfortable and great off-road cars.

ETA: Plus I after a few mods, I get to brag that I drive a $100,000 car.

I plan on building one up that will look like this:

Front end is really from Fix It Pass a couple months ago

Rear is from Flat Iron Mesa, this past weekend. It's kind of hard to see in this pic, but there is a similar dent as the picture above. The crumpled mud flap and most of the bottom scratches aren't new.

Still looking for wheels I like to put 33s on. Have a shrockworks bumper, winch, and gobi rack in the garage waiting to go on. Still gotta weld the sliders on.

In the mean time, I'll find little hills to flex on and continue being to busy to have fun.
