I couldn't resist it any longer.  I have been wanting a 14.5" SOCOM upper for a while. Since they are giving you a free BCG with it, I thought it was as good a time as any...

That's what happened to me too.

Now the build is in full swing and should be done pretty soon. Probably gonna have to wait on an optic though.

Why wouldn't he? It's always there if he needs it & it doesn't hinder him or anyone else from using a RDS like a RDS is supposed to be used. BTW the AR upper receiver he's using is referred to as a "flat top."

Do you notice your sling bunching up on the stock where the anti rotation keeps the swivel at a weird angle?

The only time I notice anything like that is when the rifle is hanging. The sling kinda bunches up in the QD itself. I haven't spent a lot of time with the stock yet though. It just came out of the box a few hours ago.

ETA It's pretty sweet how the sling lays when you shoulder the gun though.

what is the length on BCMs stock? is it the same as a normal m4 or longer like a sopmod? i love the price/features but im thinking of going IMOD for the compactness.

Just took a quick measure. It's right around 6 1/2" just a touch over. Almost the exact same length as my IMOD.

I have the Magpul SL; just installed it today & it's pretty nice. However, I know nothing about the new BCM stock. I was curious how they compared. I usually don't watch vids on here so I missed the one you're referring to.

The BCM has a smoother texture than the SL. However, the SL locks up slightly tighter due to the internals in the stock. The BCM makes better use of the QD attachment and keeps the sling out of the way a little better, IMO. The SL's butt pad is a little ridged whereas the BCM's is more rounded and more comfortable to place into the pocket of your shoulder. It's a pretty futuristic looking stock but I can see that BCM did their research with this stock.

I had the SL for a week and returned it. I like how it locks up with the metal tabs inside the tube area. Things I didn't like it was heavy for what it was it was too big/bulky. Also it felt cheap compared to the BCM. The BCM is lighter and IMO a better made stock it really is almost perfect. Just needs a wider cheek weld. It's very well thought out and extremely innovative in that it's modular and seems to be upgradable. As always YMMV

KMR 11.5" ELW Fluted upper fresh from BCM, with a user installed ALG Defense single port comp and KAC BUIS, Micro on Larue mount.

Lower is my plain ol' Noveske gen 1 with A1 grip and LMT stock with user installed IWC QD cup.

Upper feels incredibly light. I don't own a postal scale like the fancy boys, but I'd bet it's close to 5 pounds as pictured (empty mag).

That's gotta be really damn light.

I have a BCM BFH KMR 11.5" upper that feels like a toy. The ELW fluted barrel should bring it to a new level.
