Haven't tried a 6.8 yet, but I am intrigued by them. Aside from one AR-10 that I no longer own, all of my ARs shoot either 5.56 or rimfire.

This upper looks like a great way to get your feet wet without spending a fortune. What kind of mags work best with this round?

Thanks

PSA, that upper looks sweet.  You guys are killing me.  I just got done paying for the last three uppers from you guys.

Wow Spike's Tactical, what an awesome display of professionalism and adherence to the New Products forum rules.  Guess how much of your stuff I'll ever buy or recommend.

Stay classy.

Have you ever seen a High Pressure Tested 6.8 SPC?

I have seen one, it sucks that you, in an industry partner hasn't.

I only respond this way because you weren't looking for an answer, you were looking to accuse and insinuate that PSA is lying.

There are a lot of companies that have been using them to test with for a long time. Check over on 68forums for some of them.

FWIW, I bought my son a Spike's M4LE a couple of years ago, but your attitude in this thread and in a couple of others involving PSA has solidified my decision to never, ever, buy anything else from you again.

In fact, I may decide to list the Spikes for sale, and drive down to Columbia and give Jamin a few more dollars for a PSA rifle.

You make a great product, and it speaks for itself.

My advice to you is to start letting the product speak more, and you speak less.

Wow that is probably the most unprofessional and childish thing i've seen on this board.  While it might seem like an innocent question when taken out of context, put into context of one company commenting on another and you have underlying agendas.  You basically tried to cut into PSA with 2 comments, 1. calling them out on not proof testing their barrels which backfired, and 2.  not manufacturing parts in house, implying inferiority and downplaying them as an assembler not manufacturer.  Even if they don't manufacture their own parts, that's ok because at least they test their products out to make sure it meets up with spec.  I'll take that with only a 2 week wait time instead of 2-3 months.

PSA,
When are you going to start making 6.5 Grendel uppers???    Seriously, Bill Alexander just released the Spec and trademark to SAAMI, and he just met with Wolf to finalize the steel cased version, meaning later this year 6.5 grendel is going to be way way more economical to blast than 6.8.

Federal has is gearing up to produce 150 million rounds of 6.8 per year starting in 2013 for military, LE , and civilian orders. That is a full time year round production run, rather than a part time run as is normal for other 6.8 and 6.5 manufacturers. You'll be looking at cheap brass cased ammo, initially in the 90gr Gold Dot and possibly the 120gr Fusion.

Tula will be available early 2013 in a steel case round.

PMC is gearing up as well, and there are other companies that are going to be filling the military contracts along with Federal.

6.8 is about to get a lot cheaper.

I almost bought a Spikes before going with PSA for my first(and only) build. I did not and boy am I glad, I would have had to sell an AR today! That is the definition of TRASH!

By the way PSA, my 14.7 CHF upper and PSA lower is doing great! I love to keep my money in the Carolina's!

Keep it up and stay classy. Shame on you Spikes Tactical. You just ruined your tiny little name.

Damn you PSA, you keep spending my money.....

I've got two 5.56 uppers right now.  One was bought as a complete rifle (less a lower).  Both have been fantastic.

I built one more complete rifle for a friend with a stainless PSA upper.  He loves it and the price was untouchable.

You guys keep doing what you're doing and I'll keep buying product.  I'd love to have a 6.8 and a AR10.   I might even build a SPR for shit's n giggles.

All I'll say is that PSA is where I get all of my factory ammo (mostly prvi match ammo) and they have always been extremely prompt with delivery. My roommate has had similar experiences. Good stuff!

That has got to be he most unbelievable...accusation? Garbage? Pathetic?

Ok...I don't even know what to call it.

If I see or hear a competitor making a claim...I figure out how to do it and then attempt to do it better.

I am VERY thankful I never purchased a Spikes product...whether they're good or not...I would be ashamed to back a company owned by a guy who represented himself in that manner.

I got somewhat tangled up on the web, trying to weave my way through the myriad of offerings in search of a quality product at an outstanding price-point. Thank you PSA, for not trying to suck the very essence from the folks who brought you to the dance...  Your legwork shows IN the product, not ON it!

I wouldn't reveal any info to Spikes either.  I don't recall the exact part or etc. it was few years ago,   But a Member designed an improvement to the Spike .22 kit and wanted to sell them the part.  Spikes simply copied the design with no compensation.    Feel free to correct my memory if wrong or if eventually compensated. All the info was on the forum at that time.

I am pleased that PSA is offering some nice stuff at good prices!! I posted a link to the 5.56 upper on another forum.

I'm thinking the same thing.  I have a complete Spikes rifle and a 10.5 upper.  I'm done with them.  Yes, they put out a good product, but acting so classless toward a good company/site sponsor like PSA?!?  Nope.  I'll stick to PSA and other quality manufacturers from now on.  I'm done with Spikes.

Thanks, PSA.  I have a half dozen stripped Spike's lowers, and a half dozen stripped PSA lowers.  I can safely say upper or additional parts will be coming from PSA!  I've just started to drink the 300blk kool-aid as well, for a suppressed SBR (vs 9mm).  So thanks for letting me know you have that as well!

Spikes owner here too...I love my ST-15, but this kind of BS.  Don't get me wrong, my ST-15 is quality without a doubt.  I'd trust it with my life.  Not that I need to, but I would if I had to.

Spikes needs to understand that PSA can offer Mil-Spec rifles (just like Spikes) at a better price point b/c PSA sells more that rifles and has several locations.  Since PSA sells ammo and accessories (also at a good price point), they can pass the savings on to the customer.  It's like owning a gas station...you don't make money on the fuel you sell you make money on the convenience, i.e. snacks, beer and cigs.  There is not enough margin on the fuel, that is why gas stations sell other items.

I will not bash Spikes, but this isn't the first time we've seen these antics.  Spikes is a great company b/c of their rifles (which are still at a good price point), but also b/c of the people that work there.  Spikes needs to remember that everything they say on a forum like this is out for everyone to read.  The last thing any American company needs right now is a loss of business.  Don't let your people down.  They are counting on you.

From my point of view as well, 6.5 & 6.8 are pretty close, but for hunting the 6.8 offers about 80% of the power of the .308 but on a much lighter platform.  The good follks at AR Performance have some great stats and info on the 6.8.

PSA FTW!!!!

Why Spikes feels the need to "call people out" is a mystery to me.

If I owned a company I would be alittle more concerned about it, not someone elses.

Spikes should be more concerned with their back log of orders and less concerned about PSA. I got tired of waiting on stuff from Spikes. I mean come 3 months for lowers uppers and other parts? Stop trolling and work on your customer relations already. Never in stock Biohazard lowers, Never in stock Zombie lowers, never in stock anything

The 6.8 load looks a little light on velocity, perhaps because it is a Remington load.
The 7.62 load looks correct.  I have no opinion on the 5.56 or 6.5g loads.
Pick your flavor, not much difference in drop at 400 yards.
