Ditch ta31, acquire ta33?
Link Posted: 1/12/2024 9:08:55 PM EDT
[Last Edit: cj3waker] [#2]
I really like the TA33. I just wish they would make a gen 2

Same size/weight/form factor
Move RMR bosses to front of optic
Add adjustable diopter

Find some lens magic within the last 30 years to get more FOV out of the thing

or I'll just wait for a gen2 of the PA microprisms that has GLX glass and a better piggyback, which is 1000x more times likely to happen...

That's impressive OP.

What optic mount do you prefer on your 1-8s?

What optic if you wanted more power for a 223/556, or do you believe 8x is all it needs?

NX-8 glass is dog shit, the eye relief is dog shit and the "daylight brightness" they claim to have is dog shit.  You should stop slumming it OP and get some real glass.

Razor works fine if you don't like the NX8 eyebox and are already fat enough for the weight to not bother you.

In anything but a 1-6 or 1-8 LPVO I’d agree.

Kind of nice to have crosshairs you can actually see on 1x if your red dot dies.

Edit: 75th Ranger regiment agrees.

RustedAce - I think I can convince you, beyond a reasonable doubt, your list is incomplete. Shall we agree that the RMR is also a worthy optic

NX8 agree.

TA33, I just could never get used to the toilet paper tube FOV.  I like the 4x models quite a bit more, but eye relief sucks.

I’ll also second the MK5HD if you need more than 8x.

I don’t shoot anything with 1 eye closed.

Up close that helps, but shooting/scanning at distance, both eyes open ain’t going to help the tiny magnified FOV, at least for me.  I’ve tried a number of times.

They don’t make prism scopes….yet. Primary Arms does though, and I have their 1x and 3x as well as a TA33 and my wife has a TA44 ACSS.  Hands down, the 1x is a better scope to use than the TA44 ACSS. Shit, the FOV and glass on the TA44 aren’t even as good as the Bushnell Lil’ P. The 3x PA prism is really damned good and I can’t see buying a TA44 over one if I am honest.

I really like the TA33, but there are only a few use cases where I would recommend it over the PA SLX 3x. And I’m not ‘the poors’, I can spend what I want to on an optic.

The TA11 is a fantastic scope if you don’t mind the size and weight…. It would be my first choice on a general purpose rifle that might also be pressed into service as a  DMR gun, but the honest truth is that the TA33 is the ACOG most people should have bought instead of that 4X TA31 or one of the lower power non-BDC models.

IMO, Trijicon needs to revamp their lowered powered prisms RFN or they will lose that piece of the market to other companies that don’t ask $1k+ for their products. The 1x, 2x, and 3x all need to be made smaller and have larger FOV’s.

@lazyengineer

The ? rubber tubing covers the fiber optic and then you put a small light underneath it that you can click on like this to use at night/low light.

Is that correct @RustedAce?

What do you use for rubber tubing?

What specific light do you use?

I thought that was  the Tritiums job.

It is basically a way to adjust the brightness.  The reticle can be too bright and bloom on a sunny clear day.  The cover helps sharpen and adjust the reticle
