While the action isn't the strongest what's not to love about 13+1 rounds of .45 Colt in a beat package

Really?

I know Taylor's and company is bringing out a threaded 9mm 1873.   Did not know Chiappa supposedly has one; off to research.

I'm not a big lever gun guy, forgive me, but I'm assuming that gun operates smoother than an 1894?  And an 1892 or no?

No, not really.  I posted before engaging brain.  I was thinking Taylor, but typing Chiappa.  Doesn't mean that they won't introduce one in the future, but with my talent for mis-posting, I don't want a reputation for being psychic.
Sorry!

As far as I know, yes.  It's a toggling design.

I also like that but am surprised at the capacity. My Henry X only held 7 rounds for the first few tubes but now can hold 8 easily. My understanding is that most 16" leverguns in revolver calibers hold 7-8 rounds. Looks like a great hiking rifle either way!

I have a miroku 1873 Winchester and love it

I have owned italian made copies and they are fine weapons but the Miroku is even better in my opinion

The thing I don’t like about the Italian clones is that the lever droops  slightly when not in use.   The originals I have handled and the Miroku the lever doesn’t droop.

The lever drooping is a result of the geometry of the action and to prevent the lever safety from inadvertently being applied.

Fuck jap made guns

‘73 used the same toggle link as the ‘66.

Super smooth.

I have not done the research, but as far as I know Taylor is just a marketing company - guns are made under contract by others.  Unless they have an exclusive contract - I suspect they will eventually show up very similar under different labels.  Except for odd ducks, most of the Taylor's look remarkable like Cimarron's and Uberti's (I think that is the source manufacturer).  That said, I think once upon a time, Cimarron had a few other sources.

That said, the last 2 Taylor's I got had some aftermarket parts put in by them.  I don't know if they made those parts, or just got them and put them in before selling them.  That said, the only way to get those pistols were either to get them from Taylor - or have a gun smith do the modifications which would have cost even more.

Eventually I'll get one in 357 or 38 if that's a thing. The Uberti guns I've seen and handled looked great.

It's a thing. I have a Cimarron 1873 in .357 and it handles .38 SPL just as well. It is one of my favorite rifles now. Absolute dream to shoot.

Gotcha, thank you! I can live with that. Fwiw Rossi offers a barrel band with a built in sling mount, it comes on their tactical guns but it's also available separately for like 20 bucks.

Ausgezeichnet

I have no need for a '66 especially because as far the reproductions go the '73 is a much better platform and use the same ammo

Still though damn if they ain't good looking

It's beautiful.  I've been looking for one of these, along with an Uberti Peacemaker in 44-40.  Harder to come by than other calibers around here.

I run a 18" half round half octagon barrel. The length allows me to hold the gun steady unsupported when shooting in the desert. Hits on a 5 gallon painters bucket are very easy at 125 yards using 255 grn ammo. It compliments my Custer 45 SAA. I can hit the painters bucket at 125 yards but I run 200 grn bullets in the pistol and it usually takes a couple shots to walk into the painters bucket. These 2 guns (in 44-40) paired with a mustang or Nez Perce horse would have been good investments in the old west or today.
