Interesting, seems criminals have figured out there's metals in the charging cables. EV's suck for road trips anyways due to the lack of charging stations. And now the few charging stations will become useless with these crimes. I think I'll stick with my gas cars, ha

Easy to fix, just have each charging station have a receptacle not a cable.
Then each gay electric car owner can bring their own charging cable to plug into their car and the charging receptacle. |

How hard would it be to issue a bolo and arrest the dork that shows up with the cable to the recycle center? I suppose as difficult as asking people where they come up with 8-12 catalytic converters everyday with freshly cut pipe ends attached. How much is the catalytic converter on one of them there EVs cost?

Wait till the tweakers figure out the real copper weight is in the enclosed area nearby where they take the incoming power and convert to DC. |

Call in an abandoned stolen car, and you'll be treated quite rudely for inconveniencing them. I know, I've done it twice. There was a chop shop operating near one of my warehouses and we'd see dropped shells frequently. I only called in two because they were in our way. I didn't want to touch them and suddenly become responsible for them. |

Copper 0000 cable is 1.56 lbs per foot. There are most likely 3 wires in the cable and it is maybe 10 ft long so maybe 46 lbs of copper. The conductors in the cable are around 3/0. Wait till the find out that about 100 pounds of copper is hiding just behind the plastic cover.

I was a master on the AC side, but I think the principal is similar. Volts go up, amps go down. But 350 amps DC even at 500v is a big wire. Fine strand obvi but still big.
Yeah, once the shitbirds figure out how much copper is in one of these installations they will just cut the lock on the service enclosure, shut off the main and get busy. They could have a crew tear out all the high value stuff PDQ. |
