Looks like not in us, maybe third world construction and safety devices

Possible? Yes.

In the US? Very doubtful.  Unless someone bombs it.

That doesn’t look like a U.S. install to me.

Vapor build up in the tank. Static electricity sparking it.

Looks like some desert place that has a lot of oil but doesn't know how to build a gas station.

Not Jersey.  The drivers in the video are fueling their own cars.

And not US plates.

Almost empty tanks, lots of perfect air to gas vapor ratio, spark, kaboom!

All things considered it seemed pretty well contained. That's crazy.

A lot of seal offs and explosion proof rated stuff on tank wiring. Portions have gone to intrinsically safe wiring for a good while now. Some dispenser pumps used to have two seal offs just in one pump as a conduit passes from one section of the dispenser to the other. Even conduits with wiring to the canopy lighting have seal offs as they emerge from the ground to feed the lights in the canopy.

This. I didn’t see any impingement.

Partially filled tank with a vapor concentration between 1.4 and 7.6%, add a spark, and kaboom.

Loads of safety standards and regulations exist in the US to minimize the risk.  In the third world, your mileage may vary.

And the middle east gets a ton of static electricity.  I always guess from the fine particles of sand blowing around.

I remember seeing visible sparks touching car doors and having my finger pushed back.  Also made radio communications pretty shit.  Our metal buildings had huge grounding rods they were connected  to.  I saw one dug up once, the surface part was tiny, but the thing was almost six feet tall and shaped like the Eifel Tower.

That's a French rod.  Italian rods are round and go into the ground at an angle.

Lightning hit a gas station about 2 miles from my house, swelled up the whole lot. Pumps no longer in service but store is still open.
