It takes a lot to post something like this. Good teaching moment.
Hopefully, you heal fast and aren't in too much pain. Get well soon, OP. |

Tourniquet only upon failure to stop bleeding, and once applied not removed unless by a doctor? Thanks for sharing, we all need to avoid complacency. |

View Quote My daughter did a compound fracture of her tib/fib. They were sticking out the front of her leg. This was at a ski resort. There was another boy with a broken leg beside her as they waited for their respective rides. Her remark: "He was screaming like a little bitch". They splinted her leg with cardboard and plastic wrap and my wife drove her to the hospital. No pain killers. No screaming. No fainting. She was 16. The other day....at age 20, in college, she face times my wife showing a little slice on her finger from cutting veggies asking if she should go to the hospital and that she nearly passed out from the blood sight. What the hell happened to my tough little girl? |

Somewhere around 1981 one of my helpers (a very experienced carpenter) put a 16d nail right through his right kneecap and DEEP into the bone (right up to the nail-head with one of the larger pneumatic nail-guns.
We had to carry him in the back of my old F350 because his knee was locked up at about 80o so tight, he couldn't fit in the passenger seal without screaming like a 8-YO girl. We were forced to lay him in the back of the truck sideways,.... until we got to the hospital. Took three husky doctors over six hours to get that damned nail out (in three pieces). |

About 10 years ago I had an ND. I will never forget it and how worried my wife was. I regret most that I made her upset.
I was pointed at the floor in front of my legs. I am more careful now. |

Assume you went to a doctor.
what was that like? did you tell them you shot yourself, were the police or a police report done? Inquiring minds want to know. BTW: clerk at a local 7/11 had his hand bandaged up for a few weeks. Few weeks later I pull in next to his truck and(finally) notice a bullet hole in the door. Very evident it was from the inside out. Ask him about it and yes he somehow shot himself thru the hand and bullet passed thru the door. Roy |

So did the police get involved and what did they say if they were? Around here hospitals call them if someone comes in with a gsw.
