The MFJ hamstick dipole mount. Should you use a non conducting mast?

It seems to me that if I use something conducting that adds to one side of the dipole.

Or does it matter at all?

Yagis are just dipoles with a reflector and director(s).

The mast would share current with the coaxial cable shield based on their relative lengths. If the mast was close to a 1/4 wavelength then it would have some current on it.
