Got about 80 of these in an estate sale with a ton other reloading stuff. Bullet diameter is .442" and weight is 222.6 grains with the bullets seated in backwards, cases are all cut down 30-06/308 and measure in at 1.589".

I was going to say .44 Auto Mag:

But your length dimensions of 1.5something seem too long.

no, it isn't 44 auto mag, and it's probably not a 45 win mag either. At 1.6" case length, it's not even close to those. Realistically this is probably a wildcat from some guy just messing around. The closest thing I am aware of is the 45 Raptor, a 308 case at 1.8". Whether this guy was intentionally trying to make a 45 Raptor or not who knows.

The reason those bullets are .442", they were probably .452" originally, and swaged down by the brass during seating. They look like a Lyman 452424 to me. I'm pretty sure when you do a case like this, you need to ream out the inside of the case since it's so thick. This guy probably didn't. As for why they were seated backwards, who knows. It's a poor mans wadcutter.

I am aware of a 44/308x1.6 wildcat, looks like someone tried to make it a 45/308...

Donnelly's book lists a .44/06, made from a cut down 30-06 case.

I was at a loss on this one, figured I would post and see if anyone had seen anything like this before. I got all of this stuff after all the guns where gone so that would have been no help to me.

I do know that I will get about 2.5lbs of lead to melt down to make new bullets, a lb or so of brass for the scrap bucket and my flowers will look good in the near future..

I am seeing 44BGML/44x1.6

Appears to be some abomination to pass Michigan deer cartridge laws with a round feeding from an AR15. But I think the ones pictured here went wrong…….

It's been a looooong time but IIRC, I made some shot shells that looked similar... for a 1917 45 revolver (I think) using moon clips... cut off some 308 or 30-06 cases to fit in the cyl and loaded em with shot, capped them with cardboard & wax. Probably some 70's attempt at SD wadcutters but definitely a hack job whatever it was for.

I found a few... These were in a box marked for a 44Mag carbine only, made from 270 cases and capped with 45 gas checks...

Reference round is a 300gr XTP 44Mag.

They are rimless but 1917 Moon Clips fit, so I think these were intended for a revolver
It's been so long, I don't recall shooting any, but I probably did - wonder how they would extract in a lever gun...

I have heard is referred to in other acronyms as well.  And yes it was a solution to a straightwall hunting regulation.
