I have been to Yad Vashem - the Holocaust Museum - in Jerusalem.  It was one of the most emotionally moving experiences in my life.  I was really dusty in there.

Never again.

ETA: I missed it by a day.  It was yesterday.

By your words we know you.

ETA: Have you ever considered buying a membership, so that your posts would be a little less unbelievable?

Yes very edgy, extremely sharp, don’t cut yourself, etc.

The rest of us can use it as reminder that government is extremely dangerous and will kill you given the chance.  It can happen here just as easily as it happened there.

ms gamboolgals father was in the 101st and told me about a Concentration Camp that they liberated.

He said some of the Guards had put on prisoner clothes but obviously stood out.  He said that they let the prisoners kill some of them - by hand.

He also talked about piles of corpses and he got quite visibly upset.

Agreed.  If you can't get to Jerusalem, go to any holocaust museum.

People are bad at history.  It's why we repeat it so often.

Yes. Do it. I did. Worth it. Then go to WWII Memorial and Smithsonian Air and Space (both of them). They all tie in to each other.

I went to Dachau four years ago.  I learned a lot.

I very deliberately brought my 13yo son.  He had a hard time there and was pretty emotional but quiet when we left.  That's the point.

We are all Jews here.
