Posting this thread in the TX forum after talking about it with a few other members in GD.
https://www.ar15.com/forums/General/Former-Arfcommer-Out-at-NRA/5-2691488/ I made a quick design on Zazzle for some Fire Wayne LaPierre shirts we could all wear when attending. I don't know if anyone else has any hookups, does custom T-Shirts, or has a supplier that's better than Zazzle, but it was my first click to come up with an idea. I'm also open to changes in font, formatting, and context if anyone else has any ideas. I figure we could wear a shirt over this one to get into the show and then remove the outer layer, just to insure that they don't stop anyone at the door. If this shirt is agreeable to everyone and we don't feel we could do better on the price somewhere else, here's a link to the shirt in the pictures. https://www.nraam.org/attend/ |

Do they still do $10 memberships? Might totally be worth it to look at the cool stuff and do some quality trolling at the same time

If I'm in town, I'll get one of these to wear on Saturday (the day of the actual annual meeting).

I bet they'll just kick people out if they're wearing shirts like that. I'm interested to see how it goes.

Hanging around at a NRA business meeting sounds as much fun I was getting a root canal in an Afghani cave. |

Wish I were going to be in town for the convention. I had a good time last time.
And the fights between the NRA Fudds and members wearing Fire Wayne shirts could be better than the hockey games I've been attending. |

Shameless bump as a reminder that the show is this weekend, and that if you were a member as of 3/29/2024, you're eligible to vote for the 76th director.
According to Jeff Knox & co., Jim Wallace is the best choice. Voting info here |

I'm taking Friday off to go.

I'll most likely go tomorrow as well.

Never been. Are the booths display only or do I need to leave my wallet at home?

I am not 100 percent on the guns. you aren't walking out the door with it if they do sell. but I know I saw some email come through about buying suppressors. |

Not a NRA member anymore, do you just buy the 10$ membership to attend the exhibit hall?

you could do it online, so you don't have to wait in line, maybe. |

Good show. A few big names not there (Vortex, Leupold, LaRue) but otherwise everything you want to see.

I enjoyed the show, it’s definitely worth heading downtown for.

Agreed, tried to make it every time it's in TX, especially Dallas.
Will be there tomorrow and Sunday if needed to get through whole show. |
|
|
I was planning on going down Friday, but when it said it would take 30 minutes to get there from GT Distributors, I said screw it and I might go there Sunday

going Sunday with @kramden @mah827

I had a good time today. Saw lots of nice 1911s/2011s but man, the Nighthawk Series 70 Colt is just something else.
Also Mike from H&R is a really cool guy. |

yawn, I'll be at the Texas Motorplex watching the races.

@renegadex I did not see Larue there but my kids brought home a lot of there stickers from somewhere.

Had a fun time walking around today, sorry I didn't see anyone I know (except Calving from Firepower United who I didn't chat with).
Was much more hands-on this time since my friend I was with has been out of the game for ~15 years, he had a lot to catch up on (e.g., suppressors). In 2018 I walked around solo and just walked by most stuff since I'm much too cool to talk to people. Best booths: Silencershop, Fightlite (their lever-action AR lower is super cool and should work for the can cannon) |

The amount of guntoobers doing video was amusing. I figured they would have done all of that on Friday to get a heads up on the competition.

Great show, waited 1.5 hours to see Trump.
My only complaint is with the optic manufacturers putting their optics on real guns. I know they don't have fire pins in them but I still don't like sweeping a crowd of people with a real gun while trying to see what the sight picture is. I don't like pointing at the ceiling lights either. I would have much preferred some of the optics be mounted on fake blue or red plastic guns so that I could try out the optics without breaking a gun safety rule or freaking someone out. |

I wonder if some of these edge lords ever give thought to what judgement will be passed on them when their day comes? Probably won't be, "Well that guy was an asshole but he sure could vote so that excuses everything". - Bluedsteel
