I heard the Navy SEALs were using Lanny Bassham's work in their Sniper program to good effect.  As I teach riflery I thought it was worth read, so I got a copy of the "book": Freedom Flight - The Origins of Mental Power

Olympic Silver Medalist, Lanny Bassham, was feeling truly defeated and sorry for himself due to his failure to reach his ultimate goal. He meets a man who changes his perspective, his attitude and most importantly his future. An unlikely mentor named Jack explains to Lanny that he is has lost his freedom and is living in a self-imposed prison. During their plane flight to Cairo, these two strangers embark on a truly inspirational discovery. Inspired by true events this 96 page book includes 14 success principles and packs a powerful punch to those who choose the experience the flight of their life - their Freedom Flight. Take back your freedom, break down the walls to your self-imposed prison and reach for your dreams.

It's a really short read.  Its more like 40 pages.

I liked several of the "lessons" including:

Focus only on the solution to the problem and not the problem itself... Solutions empower our thinking and energize us.  As a society we need to do this.

One must continually separate the important from the unimportant, thinking about and acting on the important while letting the unimportant go.  As a society we need to do this too.  Distraction is keeping us from important matters and finding solutions.  Like Lanny, I consider excellence at shooting an important matter.

I liked the visualization part, but I felt there wasn't quite enough detail on the visualization lesson.  The book made visualization of a perfect outcome sound more like a power of positive thinking than a technical process.  More detail would have helped there.

I'll have to read With Winning in Mind, which is longer and seems to have more detail.
