1984 Chevy Spectrum 2 door hatchback.  5 speed manual, no air conditioning, crank windows.  Piece of junk.  Within the first year, the muffler rusted out, but was replaced under warranty.  Exhaust manifold rusted and had a leak that was repaired by welding it.  Body rusted, and eventually the timing belt gave out and it was not worth fixing.  Lasted me 11 years though.

'67 Mustang coupe in '67. I think it was a repo. Girlfriend's dad was a Buick dealer and he knew a guy at the Ford store. 289 2bbl, auto. 'Burnt Amber' with white interior. I wasn't complainin'! Married somebody else two years later and got a family started, and by that time the Mustang was pretty used-up (I was an idiot), so I got a brand new '70 Torino - 302, 2V, auto. 'Dark Ivy Green'/blk int. That car was bulletproof and got us through until I let her take it when we split up, because she had the kids. She eventually remarried and they had that car a long time, like around 15 years. I've never bought used cars for my main vehicles but I have bought them for side projects, second cars, etc. I don't care about the values - I keep a car 8 years or more. I've had my truck for 17 years now and my little Sportage SX for 8. The way people treat cars now, the only way to buy a used one is from someone you know and trust.

1974 Dodge Charger in 1974. I was 16. My father co-signed and the payments were $125 a month. It broke me and took evert dime of my high school job. I sold it in 1979 right before I got married.

2003 Chevy S-10 crew cab.

Back when crew cab small trucks were rare. It turned heads back in the day and I loved it. I still miss it. Even though what I have now (2016 Denali) is better in every measurable sense.

It was my first “mine”.

I drove from Fort Worth to San Antonio and got it for $52k out the door which was a smoking deal. It had 7k miles and was traded in by the original owners widow who actually worked at the dealership.

121k miles and it’s still chugging right along.

'98 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4 4 door in Forest Green.  Select Trac transfer case (both part time AND full time 4x4), 4.0L straight six.  Bought it right out of college and it took me all over the country.  Never once broke down in the ten years I had it.  I'd buy it again in a second if they still offered them.  Regret trading it in to this day.

With Subaru’s discounted interest rate and the high cost of used vehicles, the new one only cost me around $50 difference.  So it was a no brainer.

I ordered a 1975 Camaro in Sept. of 1974 the day they were released. I special ordered the car from the local dealership and it came in on the truck just before Thanksgiving in November. I wanted a Laguna Type S3 but they were not going to start production until the spring of 75. It had a hard 160K on it when I traded it in on a 1979 Toyota Celica Liftback. Believe it or not, the Celica was the better of the two cars and a hell of a lot more fun.

Yup.  Got it April 26th.

Mid-aligned door.  (You can see it in the picture.)
Bed wasn’t on straight / bent.
Absolutely terrible interior.  Like worse than a base model F350 - literally an XL STX.   Uncomfortable.
Already had rust issues on the drive train components. Fairly bad.  And I think it’s going to have electrical gremlins. But It’s gone.

Yeah, it’s crazy fast.  Yeah the suspension is great.  Doesn’t do anything different than my F150 Raptor.  My F150 Raptor is everything the ranger is, but nicer and more comfortable.

So I got a S650 Performance pack, magna ride, midnite pony mustang. Everything besides the active exhaust valve. Which, I’ll probably do an aftermarket exhaust anyways. As those valves have had some issues. Or I’ll wait till someone has an aftermarket plug and play kit for that.

Plus the dealer wrote me a check. So I made 5% off my investment in a few days.

2021 Audi SQ5 which was delivered wayyyy late to the dealership (Sept 2021) because of the China flu virus

The trade in numbers for my 2010 Audi S4 and the ridiculously low interest rates made me do it. No one on the private market was offering that type of cash for that car, but now I regret selling the 6 speed manual audi, I should have kept it and just bought the new car without a trade in.

In the 3 years of ownership I've put 8.8k miles on the SQ5. Still looks, feels, and smells like a new car. Love the air suspension.

I had knocked up my girlfriend in 2000. Married her. We were 20 and 19.  Went to work for TDCJ to care for my coming child and bought a 2001 Chevy Cavalier brand new on our own.  We’ve been married since and our daughter is graduating college this weekend. She already has a job lined up as a project engineer for a yuge contractor. Our youngest is graduating high school in June. We fucking made it…that car is long gone but we’re still rolling. It had the eco tec I believe they called it 4 banger.

Edit: I still remember the dealership and the salesman. He was the nicest old man I still remember his name.

Wife and I bought a 1985 Toyota Corolla SR-5 from a dealer, so that we wouldn't have to rely on the Chicago L to get to work anymore. Got over 200,000 miles out of it.

The first thing I bought new of the dealer's showroom floor, however, was a 1982 Kawasaki GPz750R1.
