There should be a snowflake badge that appears next to your avatar when you have more than 10 people on your ignore list. |

I use it as a reminder to myself, not to engage the Known Trolls.
There’s a long history here, of worthless Trolls baiting good guys into getting banned. The only people who survived, are either passive milquetoast pushovers, or very smart, and careful tacticians. I couldn’t be the former, so I chose to be the latter. My list is long and distinguished, like my Johnson.  I do indulge myself often, in reading the good trolls, (for entertainment purposes only). I know to be careful while doing it, because they bear the Scarlet Letter, which says: “For some ungodly reason, This idiot is protected, while You are most assuredly Not….Engage at your own risk..” |

I've only used it in the comments section of news sites to filter out the paid "Orange Man Bad" trolls who never say anything but that. I've never used it in a forum such as this one, although I've been tempted.

I use ignore on Radio Control airplane websites where members are incredibly introverted assholes with no common sense. Requires too much patience.
Gun guys are a much smarter & independent group. Here we just tell each other to F.O. if we don't agree... and problem solved.   ETA; Hey you who posted right above me. I'm a boomer. Fuck off!.... . . .....ya, just like that. lol |

If I were invited to a party and other social function, go there and discovered I enjoy interacting with the majority of the people there, but feel as a small minority are so fucking irritating that I don't even want to look at them from across the room or hear their voices, I would ignore them as best as possible and avoid them at every opportunity.
I look at the Ignore button as my way of doing likewise here. There are some posters here who grate my nerves for whatever reason, so I use the Ignore button to help me avoid them. It's not that I'm a snowflake who can't handle different opinions, it's that their personalities are insufferable and it's better for my blood pressure and my ability to continue visiting the site if I avoid interacting with the stupid cunts. |
