Very cool.
II Corps, 7th Army or 3rd Army?

War As I Knew It is a good read

He was interesting person. I’ve read several biographies. Essentially a Victorian relic in the 20th century. We need more of those.

Kinda starting to wonder if we have his kind of "break glass in case of war" around, anymore.

I know America still has good fighting men, but I hope we've got some good Corps/Army level leaders around these days.

I have wondered that for several years.
Too many leaders in the Army are only interested in being a good corporate man, and not sticking their neck out.
The ones that do stand out get forced into retirement.
We're going to pay for this in blood and treasure.

I wish we had a few generals like Patton.  Unfortunately we do not.

I met an elderly Tanker many years ago who served in Europe with him. Said he would of followed him anywhere. Including into Russia.

My favorite movie and proud that I was born not far from the Patton Museum

What would Patton say about half of the members here who complain about "sportsball"?

An interesting thing I heard was if you asked a Soldier who he served with. They'd say the name of the unit. But if they served any unit that fell under 3rd Army they didn't say the name of their unit they'd say "I served with Patton".

Read O'Reilly's book Killing Patton. I learned a lot about each major engagement from his book.

D'Este's "Genius for War" is quite good, too.

As seen in the movie "Patton".

My dad was a G.I. in WW2 and a great deal of respect for Patton and Omar Bradley. He also fielded a few theater phone calls from Gen. Mark Clark, who I was named after. {Mark Clark doesn't garner much good ink in the histories I have read.}

He had little use for Doug MacArthur.

My friends father was an MP and stood guard outside of his office after the war.  My dad was a BAR gunner in the Third Army, saw Patton once driving by in his jeep.took me to see the movie when I was a kid.

Pattons family was wealthy, they used to own much of Catalina Island .  His wife even wealthier. He could have lived a gentile life off that wealth. Instead he chose to serve his country.
