I really like that setup. I think I may move my ACOG back to a block 1 and throw my Mark 4/ Larue back on my block 2.

It's a really well balanced set up, the variable optic gives it tons of versatility, despite being on the heavy side.

I think you can find them for around $300 well used. Not sure what a new in box would bring? They had several for sale online a while back but haven't seen anything recently.  Check the usual classified sites and EE.  Many of the folks selling stuff on non AR sites have no idea how rare some of the items are.  I got a cool find on a Glock website recently.

I've seen them go from 450-600 over the last year or so. 300 is cheap and most likely a beat to hell law guns model.

Ah, I took that as you sent yours in for warranty, so couldn't speak to how they were handling returns.

Either way, I did the same with mine.  Doubled down on Aimpoint T2s

So would everyone recomend a EXPS 3-0 over the 553? Seems to be issues with the 553 and getting it worked on.

Either way I'd recommend the EXPS, hands down. Smaller, lighter, better design, etc…

Plus they look cooler.

Lot of material here so forgive me if it's been discussed, would a SFCT-556 be correct for a block2 build?

The only things the 553 have over the exps is battery life and looks, with the looks part depending on who you ask.

This.

There's nothing wrong with the 553s; the 3-0s are newer.

If you're going for clone correctness then SF3P, if you're planning on running a can, the SFMB will improve the life of the can.

I can't speak for SOF, but conventional units get the B5 or LMT, so it's in the supply chain.

Both have the same NSN.  B5 is only a dollar of so cheaper then the LMT to the Govt.  Just depends on what's in the supply chain.  We get them both when ordering.

Need some help from anyone who has installed a tango down foregrip on your DD rail.

Is it true that you have to remove the lower section of the rail to install the grip? That a part of the rail gets in the way of just sliding it on?

Thanks

Look at the top of the page, lol. I remove the rail section, really only he front two screws and side it on. There's a solid ring around the front and the rail that causes clearance issues.

I was looking for a FSB when I buddy made me an offer I could refuse on the regular m4a1 RIS. Cheaper too when you consider that your FSB takes place of the $180 taupe KAC and a $45 Matech is way cheaper than the KAC rear options.

You guys are honestly advocating hammering on a grip (or otherwise "brute forcing" it) over removing 4 simple screws?

In my experience, I found that I can get the TD VFG on the rail without removing it (or using a hammer), but taking it off the rail requires removing the bottom rail.

i remove the lower rail to install mine. still doesn't go on easily.

I have also installed them with rubber mallets with no ill effects.

If I loosen the screws I can get mine on and off, but forcing it seems to be asking for excessive wear.

How in the hell do you get the FSP rail nice and even? I used a carry handle to mate the upper/rail but it's still ever so slightly canted. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUu
