Did you have the barrel refinished or they send it back like that included with the cut and thread?

Yes, a cold blue is included in the cut/re-thread service. Steve said that my FSB was hardest removal he's ever seen.. The original FSB was destroyed during the removal process. Steve hooked me up with a new F marked FSB, and since LMTs barrels are "in the white" under the factory FSB, he re-parked the whole thing. That was after I sent it back the second time for a few issues not worth mentioning publicly. All I can say is that he made it right, and he will get all my business in the future.

Edit: I marked the barrel exactly where I wanted the new shoulder to be cut.

Anyone have the link or can repost the picture that is similar to this one but is more of a close up over the shoulder shot? Seen it before but can't find it

Does this work?

Yep, looks like an Insight MRDS. I have seen them in quite a few pics.

I had a bolt catch roll pin deform and split on me during installation so I emailed ADCO to see if they could get it out and put a new one in. They fixed it and being the good guys they are, didn't charge me a dime for labor or return shipping. I've sent them work in the past, but stuff like that earns a customer for life.

Sort of like asking......blond, or brunette?      I went with a SF because of cost vs. NT4.  You can't doubt the clone cool look of the NT4. If money hadn't been an issue for me it would be NT4.

I'm in the same position - KAC or Surefire. Probably going to be the Surefire because it's just a lot cheaper.

Surefire owners, what are your gripes with the RC? Is it just the issue of it getting stuck after a range session?

No gripe at all. I've not had any trouble removing mine after shooting, although I haven't put more than 250 rounds through it without removing.

No complaints here.  I haven't had any issue removing mine, but I don't let it cool while attached, either - or I've just left it on after shooting and removed it the next time I went shooting.

I have no complaints either. As to suppressor getting stuck, I put Frog Lube on both weapons muzzle devices and threads in suppressor ratchet mechanism from day one an iissue with sticking.

Cool. I attained my Eagle Scout rank in 1992. My home troop was Troop 319, Verdugo Hills Council in California.

The Rifle Shooting merit badge was my first hands-on with firearms.  I swear we used .22's, but as I look at the current merit badge requirements, they seem dumbed down.

Technically you can't mix the accessory packages but you can definitely put block II accessories on a rifle with a fixed front sight base (not including the FSP here) it's called the block 1.5/Phased Replacement. Which is exactly what he stated, putting the block II package on a block I rifle

This forum yes. Gotta call it something. I know the layout was/still is in use on some rifles, don't know that SOCOM actually has a name for the layout though.

Random question, but does anybody know (maybe you Doc?) If the SU-253/PEQ can be commercially purchased? The reason I ask is because it would be pretty badass if it was decently enough calibrated for 37mm smokes. Would be fucking awesome to have in my book.

I was looking at this picture and was wondering when the cut-down carry handle was used as opposed to the LMT rear sight? I know the cut down carry handle pre-dates the LMT sight but anyone know what years specifically. Just from pictures I am guessing the cut-down carry handles were common early in OEF, roughly 2001-2002.

There's not, as far as I know, and "official" name for any configuration, they're all simply M4A1 Carbines.  SOPMOD is a list of approved accessories that can be purchased through and is managed by NSWC-Crane as "official," and works in hand with life-cycle management of USSOCOM small arms (as opposed to conventional Army weapons, managed through TACOM).

"Blocks" or "Increments" simply refers to groupings of accessories all "approved" at around the same time that replace previous items in the various "classes" - however, new components are being introduced all the time, and being phased in until they gradually replace the previous "generation" or "block" of accessories in the operational population, hence "Phased Replacement" items.

And none of this influences what a unit(s) may procure from within their branch specific infrastructure (e.g. M68CCOs instead of ECOS-Ns, or AN/PVQ-31Bs instead of 4x DOS or SU-237/PVS) as well as COTS, etc.

All of the designations we use in this thread to distinguish between one configuration are largely spurious, and simply used as enthusiasts' shorthand and regulated nowhere else but within this thread to give clarity to what all we're talking about.  In all reality, "Shorty M4 with the long brown rail" is probably closer to a universally recognized "official designation" than "M4A1 CQBR" - but again, we use certain terminology and try to remain consistent within the thread so that we can all communicate with each other more effectively.
