They fixed it and being the good guys they are, didn't charge me a dime for labor or return shipping. I've sent them work in the past, but stuff like that earns a customer for life. |

I'm in the same position - KAC or Surefire. Probably going to be the Surefire because it's just a lot cheaper.
Surefire owners, what are your gripes with the RC? Is it just the issue of it getting stuck after a range session?

As to suppressor getting stuck, I put Frog Lube on both weapons muzzle devices and threads in suppressor ratchet mechanism from day one an iissue with sticking. |

My home troop was Troop 319, Verdugo Hills Council in California. The Rifle Shooting merit badge was my first hands-on with firearms. I swear we used .22's, but as I look at the current merit badge requirements, they seem dumbed down. |

Which is exactly what he stated, putting the block II package on a block I rifle |

Random question, but does anybody know (maybe you Doc?) If the SU-253/PEQ can be commercially purchased? The reason I ask is because it would be pretty badass if it was decently enough calibrated for 37mm smokes. Would be fucking awesome to have in my book.

There's not, as far as I know, and "official" name for any configuration, they're all simply M4A1 Carbines. SOPMOD is a list of approved accessories that can be purchased through and is managed by NSWC-Crane as "official," and works in hand with life-cycle management of USSOCOM small arms (as opposed to conventional Army weapons, managed through TACOM).
"Blocks" or "Increments" simply refers to groupings of accessories all "approved" at around the same time that replace previous items in the various "classes" - however, new components are being introduced all the time, and being phased in until they gradually replace the previous "generation" or "block" of accessories in the operational population, hence "Phased Replacement" items. And none of this influences what a unit(s) may procure from within their branch specific infrastructure (e.g. M68CCOs instead of ECOS-Ns, or AN/PVQ-31Bs instead of 4x DOS or SU-237/PVS) as well as COTS, etc. All of the designations we use in this thread to distinguish between one configuration are largely spurious, and simply used as enthusiasts' shorthand and regulated nowhere else but within this thread to give clarity to what all we're talking about. In all reality, "Shorty M4 with the long brown rail" is probably closer to a universally recognized "official designation" than "M4A1 CQBR" - but again, we use certain terminology and try to remain consistent within the thread so that we can all communicate with each other more effectively. ~Augee |
