Yea I feel like a NF UNI would put that sucker a little further forward so it’s easier to manipulate the CH. another downfall of the NSW Recce.

If I was going ATACR I'd run the NF uni or the new Badger mount.

I've considered a NX8 simply because I haven't seen any non-rapey x24 listings. Been searching high and low, nada.

There was a brand new one for $1,650 in the EE. That’s a good price.

Eyekahn, if you decide to split it apart, I’d be interested in the barrel.

Hoping you guys can help me out.

I havent shot past 150yds in a long time now.  In two weeks I'll be joining a range that goes to 600.  I have no idea where to begin with holds and stuff.  Basically, I think I'm looking for a ballpark on what to dial for 69-77 pills.

Download a ballistic app. I use StrelokPro. It will get your close and you can refine from there.

I’ve got the free original  version. It lets me load up to 10 rifles with 10 loads for each. Not sure what the new free one is like.

You’ll need velocities and BC to get you where you want to be. Unless your shooting man size with 77gr then around 5 -5.7 mil is 600, with a 100yd zero. Depending on your velocity. 15” will be about 2580 and 18” will be about 2750. Don’t waste your time with 69gr at 600.

I’d assume your 13” with 77gr IMI would be about 2550FPS G1 BC for the 77SMK is .372

If you handload try the Nosler 70gr RDF. Very high BC for that weight and they will get moving faster than the 77. So less drop. Less room for error.

Just an FYI with a 100yd zero, 75gr HPBT(better Bc than 77SMK) at 2580FPS, my 15” was:

200-.5
300-1.5
400-2.5
500-3.9
600-5.3

Give or take .1-.2 for temps. All that is confirmed on 12” plates out to 600.

I think the Pro version offers a more robust data base on scopes and reticle choices, G7 BC input and other nice little things that enhance use.  You get automatic and regular updates.

But, it’s so inexpensive ($12) it was a no-brainer. I never tried the free one.

I run 1.375 and I feel that's tall enough if not a tad too high and I like 1.93 mount's for NVG related stuff.

Anyone have info on that 416? Never seen one with the AE setup except for this picture. Would be a sick clone.

Some more info on this would be sweet. ETA is it a AEM4 style where it mounts directly?

@eMc9001

14.5" chopped down to the gas block leaving enough room for the in-house armorers to build a custom collar per the 416 barrel specs.

This info is from primary sources.

Buy a quality chronograph like Magnetospeed V3 or LabRadar. You'll need to chrono your rifle with the ammo you plan to use at temp ranges you will use it. From there you'll want a Kestrel or Weatherflow to give you a DA value and grab the right temp. Use a laser temp gun to check your ammo temps. 5.56 changes with temp.

Make range cards for your rifle and ammo that show DA and ammo temp, and you just use whatever matches the conditions you're shooting at the time. Do something like 50 yard increments to your max distance, like 750 for a recce 5.56. And if your range is all KD that were lasered for precision, you're good. I'd recommend an okay range finder.

Don't guess dope, and don't use data others use for their own rifles and setups. I generally zero at 100 yards, but leave my rifles dialed to their MPBR with a human vital size.

Nice. Might have to try and change my barrel order with Nefarious Arms.

Is that a NF 2.5-10x24 on top?

ETA: what scope mount is that with top rail up front of the picture?

That’s a 30mm ring cap for mounting an Insight RULR. There are 2 versions out there, one made by Wilcox and the other made by Nightforce, both under government contract. There are some nightforce caps available at damage industries. The link is a page or two back. Only notable difference between the two is the Wilcox has one slot and the Nightforce has two.
